HL CHALLY 2.

Post by Pebs434 »

This is my first HL tank and I purposely chose the lowest spec (all plastic) because I want to learn new skills as I upgrade and personalise it. My previous model was the Taigen Tiger which was virtually finished.
My first question is, do I have to prep the plastic body shell at all before priming it or can I just spray the primer straight on?
Any other tips would be gratefully received.
Thank you.
Pebs.

Hi, I would give it a light sanding just to provide a good key for the primer to stick to, use light coats build it up in layers.

Or, use an actual self-etching primer(like an automotive one) that will bind to the plastic, and any metal on it.
There is a big difference between a primer colour, and an actual primer.

I always wipe my surfaces over with meths, or even acrylic thinners, to ensure all the finger marks, gearbox lube, and other nasties are gone

I use halfords grey plastic primer for plastic bumpers. It doesn't come off once it's bonded.
