Cheers Mr Jake, I hope to soon have the stencils for the turret numbers so that can be completed.
I still have the bucket to do as well, so this is still a work in progress until those are finalised.

Thanks Mr Zuul, its not quite as I had in my minds eye, but close enough.
Its a bit 'clean' though !
Dont know if I can live with it for to long :/

Herman,
It looks great as is! Not many of these lasted long enough to get dirty ( tho' a few were discovered on the Golan Heights when they opened fire on Israeli Super Shermans there ) Your excellent work along with a couple of other striking builds convinced me to get one of the few remaining early Pz IVs and salt it away for a DAK build one of these fine days.
regards,
Painless

HERMAN BIX wrote:Depends on the type of super (or C.A )glue you have.
If its gel type, which is better for impact than the normal quick set stuff and sets slower, you can spread it on the surface out of the tube & then use your finger to wipe it over the surface. As it sets, it will leave streaks, rough spots, and irregular shapes which can then be sanded back for effect. Add another layer if necessary. Dont linger though, you will leave a skin deposit :wtf:
If you use the usual quick set stuff, I find it necessary to have one hand discharging the product while the other hits the surface with a slightly wetted brush to get the effect.
The brush is a bit hard to manipulate at times, mainly because you are using your odd hand.!
The finger method is good, but it leaves the inevitable mess and its not pleasant to get off :/ :problem:

A good thing with either method is it can be added to by layering as you see fit.
It does also affect paint outcomes on bigger areas. Plain plastic with undercoat will have a different 'soak up' than the superglue coated areas, well it does for me anyway.
Just tried this...any tips for getting it off the finger? :wtf:

I'm using a scrap piece of styrene to try it and it's drying right now. I'll buff it in a minute. If I prime it, will it paint fine? Or, would this mess up my paint job? Concerned about your paint comment. TIA

It will paint fine.
Just if you look close as you paint it, the glue-covered areas will dry at different rates.
I use the self etch primer, then the base coat over the glue.

Most of my tanks are done this way and it does not affect the paint, other than if you like to use very thinned primer it wont absorb as much base coat as the un-glued areas ...............
Well it seems like that for me.

It will not mess up your paint.

Good to know. Thanks.

I'll use self-etch primer from a rattle can.

I tried it last night on a scratch piece of styrene. Looks okay...really just roughs up the surface a bit so that it's not "plastic smooth". I think I'll do it to the tank hull and turret. The effect is subtle enough that I don't think I can mess up the tank by doing it. It'll just give the metal a rougher look.

Now to figure if there are any cast parts on the PzIV hull...can't really tell from photos.

Haven't seen it yet but pictures of it with B11 now on.
Once I get it home they can be blended in a bit.
Just the bucket remains outstanding .
