Decided to paint it...

Post by mitchell »

After saying i was going to leave it bare metal i've decided to paint the Pz3 -

Initially wanted to keep it like this -

But found what i think is a good colour match of the desert finish JT -

As well as being a good solid unit the metal Mato upper takes the paint quite well -

Very nice Mitchell, you've done a cracking job on the weathering too, I like the pzlll especially in this finish, I've got one myself which is on the very long production line for a repaint

That turned out fantastic!

So what did you do to get the paint to stick? I painted my M36 but the paint just chips off to the point I'm getting tired of touching it up.

Did you use an etching primer first??

Yup, self etching primer baked on at 200 degrees for 30 min then painted and baked again. The baking seems to have helped some but it still gets scratches and chips.

Thanks guys, I'm pleased at how it turned out. For those of you who are interested the base paint I used for the desert finish was AK interactives "Wood base" AKA - AK779, the high traffic areas was done in Schokobraun-AK718.

Thanks buddy

I like the Pz3's too, the available parts are quite good quality, it's a reliable and versatile wee chassis
