Hi AL,
I know he's kits are awesome and you pay for quality but to me it's a tad expensive. I know I will be shot down for say this but it's just the way I see it. I would STILL like one though :crazy:Just wouldn't tell the wife :haha:. Brian...

Brian,

"No shooting you down", Yes it is pricy and yes I ordered one! For me it is about having a large scale fully operational model of IMO one of the coolest tanks ever built. Looking over the build manual shows some of what I am talking about, it is also clear that this is a craftsman kit and will challenge my modeling skills if I want to get the most out of the kit.

A kit like this IMO is as much about limited market and the production cost of a limited run kit that has custom machined parts as it is about the quality. I am new to large scale tank modeling but have been modeling for over 50 years and worked within the industry for 12years. The cost of this kit is in line with the same type of limited run, limited market, high quality kit within the model airplane and ship world. A recent to mind is a 1/32" resin/fiberglass PBY-5A Catalina for $850 USD and it a static model with no operational aspects. Ships are even more so, a 1/350 resin with photo etch can be in the 400 to 500 USD range and again for a static model. RC airplanes and ships cost can easily eclipse the 1000 dollar mark for the "good" stuff!

I do not know their businesses dynamics but unless he sells enough kits he may possibly not recover his up front cost or it may take a considerable length of time to do so. I truly wish him well because a large scale M48 and an M60 will fit quite nicely into my tank modeling desires!

Again no knocking your take on it just some additional thoughts.

Cheers,
Barry

Hi Barry,
I totally agree with all you said. I'v been modelling now for over 50 years . I that time i'v seen so many leaps forward in all the different types of kit that have come about. As I said earlier I probably will fork out and get one!! That's of course if someone brings out an M60A2 that would really put the cat among the pigeons :haha:. In the meantime I'd be grateful if we saw the T90. I think it's probably broken down on its way from China.LOL... Brian...
