Help please!

Post by mekonus »

Hi new member here looking for help. I have a Taigen king tiger and the on/off switch underneath came loose and has gone inside the tank body. I am not into electronics but could I fix it...I have phoned several radio control/model shops and they wont touch tanks! Just wondering if I can take the bottom off or fix it myself? Help please! Thanks. Doug

I have that tank, even though I no longer use the Taigen hull.

Yes you can fix it. It's been 2 years but there should be 6 screws underneath to separate the upper and lower hull. Then carefully open it up, careful with the wires from the lower to the upper. Look inside and you should see the switch. Stick it back in its hole and again careful adding a drop or 2 of crazy glue to hold it in place. Just make sure you don't get glue on the switch mechanism or you'll be replacing the switch.

Wish I could help more, maybe another member would be close enough to be able to offer you help in person. Don't be afraid of opening th tank up, we all have to eventually.

Beyond that hello and welcome!

Even though it sounds daunting I will give it a go, and thank you for the advice!

It's really not that difficult. The screws should all be Philips heads. There should be 2 up front, 2 toward the middle and 2 near the rear. The wires that go from the lower to the upper should be about 4-6 inches long so you should have room to work. If it's too tight you can always unplug the wire harnesses from the little black box with the fan on top, that called the MFU (Multi Function Unit) it's the receiver. The wires just unplug with a gentle wiggle and tug.
