Got this cheapo plastic siphon from the local general store and will give it a go. The part circled is the piece I am going to use, seems to be the right shape and it is quite loose for the recoiling.

Michael, take a look at the boots that are used for rc boat steering linkage as it passes through the hull. The boots I'm speaking of are used to keep water out of the hull and inclose the steering linkage. Just a thought.

Thanks guys. I would probably make it a little tighter if I ever take it apart again. Its just a matter of gluing the inner BB barrel at the desire compression and let it dry. Looking at the Heng Long barrel, the ribbed part looks totally compressed and in full recoil.

I paid $6 Cdn for mine which is like 3 pounds.......... :-(

Still probably like the best $6 I ever spent on tank parts.
