Hi Guy's I am after as much info on upgraing the Matorro KT as I can get. I want to put in HL 3:1 gearboxes and Tamiya rear idler adjusters. Also wonder if anyone knows if can you use HL suspension parts to swap out/beef up the poor Matorro system. Any info or links would be VERY much welcomed. All the best for now

Re: Matorro KT upgrades
PM the blitz, he is fitting 3:1 HL gearboxes to my KT at the moment. As I understand things, its not something for the faint of heart, but at the same time its maybe cheaper for you to have a go than ship your tank to him... The Mato Tiger metal arms are no good for the KT - they are a different design entirely. I've not tried the idler mod, but there are a few pics of modified Tiger idlers kicking around the forum.

Tankzone is getting in rear tensioner specifically made for the Matorro King Tiger! I will be getting two set to try out and I will be stocking them! But Tankzone being in the UK you should be able to get them cheaper from them! They are out of stock right now, but kin said they will be in, in a few weeks!Ex_Pat_Tanker wrote: PM the blitz, he is fitting 3:1 HL gearboxes to my KT at the moment. Re: Matorro KT upgrades
Hi alan from my point of view after the pleasure of working on one they are very similar to a H/Long tank
1) standard gearbox is ok but if you want more go with H/long 3:1s or as i did the asiatam low profiles
2) would benefit from strengthening at the rear where an adjustable idler could be fitted (ally angle springs to mind)
3) replace the mattorro board with either an RX14 or 18 (remember to get the recv board and transmitter board as the two arent very compatible)
4) smoker if you use these then that will need a replacement for a prop H/Long one
if anyone does the suspension arms in metal this would also be better

Kind Regards Rob

Re: Matorro KT upgrades
Cheers Rob I have already swaped the electronics to the RX 14 board and reciver. I am hoping to use your idea of an aluminium base plate for the 3:1 reduction gearboxes. Looking at raising the drive sprockets up by the recomended 3mm. I have bought a set of metal Tamiya rear idlers and the adjuster system to go with them. What you say about the rear end is right and I am thinking of trying to replace some of the plastic hull with aluminium angle as you have said ( any thoughts you have on the subject would be most welcome ). Can't find anyone who makes the Matorro KT suspension arms though, so what I am thinking is make up a rail with the HL after market spigots ( or the brass connectors from some 3 Amp chocablocks ) as fitted to the HL tiger 1 then mount good old HL metal tiger suspension arms with some sort of spacer to mimic the " kick out " on the Matorro suspension arms. I have taken some provisional measurments and things marry up well the only real diffrence is the shafts to mount the KT suspension arms on are bigger than HL ones so there is NO easy way to go back once you start. I think this will stiffen the chassie up quite a bit. Then again buying a Tamiya KT lower chassie and all the suspension/wheels ( should have kept mine
) would be the clever thing to do as it looks a drop in fit. Well thats as far as I have got at the moment lot's of ideas just to scared to go for it. All the best for now

Re: Matorro KT upgrades
personally alan just get some angle from B&Q and place it inside with the plastic to beef up whats there
the arms are an issue as no one to my knowledge makes metal arms ::)
