Good morning Del,

I've never used one of these boards before so it's all new to me, as you say someone with an experienced eye would have it going in no time :D ,

Morning Mr wibbly, I shall post a picture of it later when I get in from work, if I hold the left stick in any of the corners it just makes the turret traverse, it all looks like it's working but as you say I most probably have the channels plugged in wrong  I did calibrate it after the advice from my first post and this got the turret moving etc as before I did that there was nothing. Even when the gun recoils now this also track recoil but no sounds or startup ? How would I tell if the rx cables from the board to the receiver are in the right order as all the cables look to be the same with no identifying marks on them,

Cheers, Lee.

A photo of rx and board will help like wobbly says.
You need to know which channel is which on the rx to get the wires right.i use spectrum and they are marked thr, ail, ele etc and some rx are numbered.once you know which channel does what you can match them to the board

Del, I will also be using my Dx6i eventually to run it, but for the moment I'm going to use the planet t5 as I have a few spare receivers and it's all set up ready, I only want to test it's all working ok as I'm planning a strip down and repaint for the tank. I'll post a few pics up later of the board tx/rx, I'm most probably missing something really obvious :eh: and hopefully someone can put me right on it, thanks for all your help guys, it's very much appreciated

Cheers, Lee.

From your description it does sound like this is nothing more than the channels being on the incorrect receiver terminals. Don't worry anyone who has ever ventured into radio controlled models of any description encounters this confusing set up thing, it is probably the one most common frustration that we all suffered when we started out.

Eg left stick left/right should move the turret rotation, if it doesn't then you know that one is wrong, which also means the another one is also wrong.

What you can do is work methodically through the plug order, swap two at a time and test the tank each time.

eg make a grid on a sheet of paper, write the receiver channel numbers down one side, and then label the plugs.

Channel Plug
1............. 1 4 3 3
2............. 2 3 4 4
3............. 3 2 2 1
4............. 4 1 1 2

and so on. It isn't a five minute job, but doing it this way you know that you won't repeat the same error, as you will only try one configuration once. Once you know that one channel is correct, you only have three to sort out etc. Turret rotation and tank starting are the easiest to find, so you then only have the right stick to swap the channels on to get the motors running in the right direction.

If you can get hold of a Planet manual and see which channel does what, and then follow Eddy's guide above, then you should get to the right set up pretty quickly.

You may still have to reverse some channels using the switches under the front panel to get it completely right.

First observation is that on the pic of the receiver it looks like the plugs for 2 of the channels are in around the wrong way?

They should all be in with the white wires along the same edge. The same at the board end.

The wires are signal - white, live - red, negative - black.

By putting them in the wrong way around you won't get a signal from the receiver to the board etc. White will be the signal, so check the Planet manual for the rx polarity and the IBU manual for the board polarity.

I will take a look at that Rob, I can see what you mean about the wires now ( being colour blind doesn't help me much ) :haha: , I put all the plug ends in facing the same direction ie with all the sides with the little cut out showing the connections :eh: I thought this was how they were supposed to go, I'll change those 2 around and see if there's any joy

The speaker looks to be in the wrong port.
If you look in your 3rd picture it should be in the left hand 2pin socket.it also needs the volume control plugged into the 3pin socket next to it.

What mode are you using 1 or 2 and I will try to sort out which number on the receiver you need for each channel on the board.

Ok this should work,fingers crossed.
First connect the speaker and volume as mentioned above.
Unplug the receiver cables from the board.
Take the wires out of channel 2 and 3 on the receiver and turn them 180 degrees so the wires are the right way up.
Now take channel 1 from the receiver and connect to channel 1 on the ibu
Channel 4 from the receiver goes to channel 2 on the ibu
Channel 3 from the receiver goes to channel 3 on the ibu
Channel 2 from the receiver goes to channel 4 on the ibu

This puts the correct channel pairs on the correct sticks.
Set it up then take a pic and we can tell you if you need to rotate any cables.
