I thought this post would get plenty of responses and I was right.
Plenty of very valid opinions have been expressed and the outcome couldn't be better.
Yet again Matt has responded very swiftly to the suggestions put forward and created the ' Things to fix on your new tank ' section in the tank builds board. This is the only forum I know of with such a section so lets make sure it's well populated as I'm sure it will be of benefit to all of us.

Just had a look and only found Heng Long and Mattro surely there are other companies with faults like Bandai, Tamiya, Trumpeter/Wasan just to name the main ones

i,m sure there are other companies models with faults, but as the page only went up late last night how about giving it sometime to develop!!!

WHo knows? - maybe some manufactueres may take heed of our little forum and correct some of the "deliberate mistakes" before they release future issues - or would this just take some of our fun away?
A really good post John, which I thought at first was going to open up a nasty hornets nest but it settled down quite nicely and I think will result in a very possitive conclusion.

Great thread, but I don't think there is an easy answer to this one. If I was a newbie just built my first model tank, very proud of it and dying to show it off I would tend to become discouraged if some know-all of a rivet counter (sorry Riv, I'm not referring to you) jumped on me and told me about all the minor errors such as incorrect bolt heads etc.
But the rivet counters are not always right! When I did my 1/8 Panther up as a copy of 801 (at the Koblenz museum) I was informed in no uncertain terms by one of these "I think I know it all" guys that I had put the wrong type of fire extinguisher on it. I was delighted to be able to show a photo of the real tank to prove I was correct and that the error was the fault of the restorers. I had merely copied the error!

Personally I wont leave a negative comment on someone else's work unless they invite it and Im pretty damn sure I know what Im talking about.... well at least i try to know what Im talking about :-[ . Constructive criticizism is always welcome but as already pointed out its easy to miss-read or miss-type something and get offened.
I do get a little fed up with pics of brand new, unmodified tanks but then I remember how excited i was to get a new tank and hobby... you've just got to show someone havent you!
Maybe we need a "FIGHT" section where the combatants can thrash it out while we stand around chanting "fight, fight,fight..." It worked in the playground.
