Bovington Tank Fest 2009

Post by madbadger »

hi everyone i would like to know if its worth going both days at the tank fest, or is the same thing sat and Sunday? simple reason just wondering weither or not to book a hotel for Friday sat night.

wife doesn't want to go now, so if weather is nice i will go down on my bike. Or does anyone know of a campsite near it, i could go in the car with the tent.

who's going anyway?

I'm thinking about going. It depends on what tanks are being shown. If I do I'll go down for the two days because last year they had some tanks only running on one of the days.

I usually stay at the Anvil Inn in Pimperne (great real ale!)

Cheers

There was a TV show I caught the very tail end of the other night here in Canada about a pair of Centurion restorations - one down east here in Ontario somewhere and the other in England. The English group were trying to put a Mk V, I believe, back to it's original Mk III configuration in time for an annual 'tank fest'. I thought they kept referring to Duxford but thought that was an annual air show.

Were they actually talking about Bovington, or does something also happen at Duxford, or have my nostrils just been in the HL smoker fumes too long...?!?...

The Imperial War Museum at Duxford has a Tank/vehicle museum too, and they do have tank/vehicle days. I believe this years is 21st June.
All tanked up
