My son picked up an old Heng Long panzer at a yard sale, no remote, for $5. He has since bought a new Tiger I with a 2.4G radio. What would I need to do to get the panzer to work with the new 2.4G radio so that he can use either tank (not together). It has an old RX-13 board in it now I think.
I am thinking that all I need is the 2.4G RX-18 Receiver Board and the Rx-18 cable set. Is that all I need? I am confident that I can get it all connected, but am unsure how to get the new board talking to the radio that came with the tiger? And once connected, will the radio still work with the tiger so that he can switch between them easily.
Any Info is appreciated.

Re: Upgrading a yard sale HL Panzer to 2.5G
There is couple versions of the Heng Long 2.4Ghz radio/receiver sets, so just need to make sure you get the right receiver for your radio and you should be good. You will still need the RX-18 cables etc.
Re: Upgrading a yard sale HL Panzer to 2.5G
so how would I go about determining the right type? And I am worried about binding? Does the radio match the tank or does the tank match the radio? If I bind the radio to the new control board in the panzer, will it still work with the tiger or will I have to re bind each time we switch?
Thanks
Thanks

This is a related thread posted recently.......

My understanding is that you have rebind everytime when you switch tanks, i.e. you can't control two different tanks with one radio at the same time unlike after market Hobby grade radios and electronics.

Thanks, that is very helpful. So I have the version 3 controller, according to that thread. Anyone know how I would go about getting a receiver that matches it? Is there a specific version of the RX-18 that I need?
