New King Tiger I finished

Post by Jnewboy »

Heng long all the way except the gun mantlet is Tamiya. Its 334 from the Battle of the Bulge. Custom decals made for it (the "4" is wrong on the peddinghaus set). Its for a retired Special Opps guy I deeply respect.

Nicely done, not many builders see the differences in the style of the number '4' used on German armour, and there has been much debate about which style was used, and why.

I'm not usually a fan of the King Tiger, but that's spectacular work; really something special. It looks like it's shrugged off everything the Allies have been able to throw at it, and it's ready for more. Nice!

Thanks guys, this tank was knocked out in the battle but the photos are hard to say if it was from enemy fire or mechanical failure or lack of gas. It does look like there was an explosion but that could be due to the crew destroying it.

This is a good shot of that "4", its always important to at least get the right font! Haha! Not to mention fade ratio in comparison to the rest of the paint.

Yes you are right, there are, that and the color is also very wrong sometimes. It may look good on the screen but once printed its bad. I paint them or print my own. I know a VERY talented guy that does all my custom orders for decals and uses one of the old rare machines that actually can print white.
