Heng Long PZ4 Body to Tamiya PZ4 Hull

Post by jarndice »

How easy/hard is it to fit the Heng Long Panzer 4 body to the Tamiya Panzer 4 Hull ?
I ask because I already have a spare H/L PZ 4 Body and if it will fit a Tamiya PZ 4 hull without difficulty that could be my next build.

I dont think it would be too difficult, but I have not done it.

Why dont buy the Asiatam panzer IV metal hull? Its a direct fit, rock solid and cheaper. Im happy with it.

Rad, If you could tell me where I could find an ASIATAM Panzer 4 metal hull I would buy one, but I have looked and I remember there was an issue with quality control when they came out and a lot of vendors stopped selling them so they are quite rare now.
But I would like to be proved wrong.

I was going to give you the web (www.asiatam.com) but it seems they dont have the hull anymore... Sometimes they remove them from the web for a while (maybe while they make it) so be a bit patient, they may have it soon.

The quallity issues seemed to be some missing pieces... I had no problem with it, so I, really happy with it, and metal exhaust its just amazing.

The only thing I may change is the suspension, it is like the taigen one. But the hull is really bulletproof.

Jarndice,
Good afternoon! While looking for metal Elefant detail parts, I saw one of those hulls on DKLM's website. This fellow, Carson should be able to set you up.
regards,
Painless

If you're going to be spending all that money I would still go for the Tamiya version. The metal chassis tub might be ok, but the suspensions awful as it's the same type as the henglong panzer iv, the springs have a tendency to catch things as your running. I've seen some of the Americans use the Asiatam hull but add Tamiya suspension.

Don't worry Tom,
I looked at the DKLM site and the ASIATAM PZ4 hull had already gone,
I was halfway through making up a list of Tamiya hull parts I will need to order, when Painless told me about the Hull,
Jasons don't have much on show for the PZ4 but AXELS appears to have everything, one question, I know Tamiya do metal sprockets and idlers BUT do they sell metal wheels and rollers ?

The HL PZ4 hull isn't as accurate as the Tamiya one, there should be a slope on the rear engine deck, and it's quite a bit of surgery to get it looking right. I know a few people who have done the mod, it can be done, but you'll save yourself a lot of work if you can get hold of the real McCoy. The HL lower hull is ok on flat surfaces, but as has been said, as soon as it goes offroad those mouldings on the suspension catch on any grass or bumps that it goes over, and the tank comes to a grinding halt. Seeing as no one sees them as they are underneath, I would take the route of grinding anything off that impeded progress, as apart from that they should be good runners.

Could you give me a link of it? I might do the same.
