Thanks Tom;

I saw that you finished the Mossie, turned out beautifully!! :thumbup: Now back to the "Bones" :clap:

Tomas,

Yep it is molded out of green plastic. I suspect that it has to do with the final paint as it requires less to paint Sand over sand and green, brown & black over green. However yours would seem to suggest another reason....perhaps best price on plastic pellets.

Its really quite simple to move the controls to positions attached to the lower hull that are hidden.
I have done this on both my Abrams.
The Sand colored one only has the pull out battery charging plug under its cover as it has the HL 2.4 system while the green one has the 2.7 system and needed someplace to put the volume and smoker switches.
The covers are a tight enough fit that they stay in place so I didn't bother to make operating hinges to open the panels.

Thank you "Greengiant",

I have been thinking along those lines but was not sure about making hinges that look to scale. You suggestion of a tight fitting panel obviously works. :thumbup: I had been thinking about using the super small magnets like Tamiya uses on their latest 1/32 aircraft kits to hold removable engine cowlings in place. :think:

I will be adding an Infantry Phone box to the aft right corner and was thinking of hiding at least the On/Off switch there.

There is plenty of room on the back hull plate to mount the on of switch as I showed in the picture and it is completely invisible unless you turn the tank upside down. It can also be unscrewed the same way it was when mounted on the tank bottom if any wires need to be re soldered at some time.

I also thought of making a phone box and trying to mount the switch under but found it meant having to remove one of the rear hull plate screw points and messing with the rear of internal fender at that point as the phone box would be ever so slightly lower then that internal fender and not large enough to have the standard modified HL switch with wiring attached move from off-charge to the on position.

This pic shows my green M1A2v2 with the phone and battery box charging covers in place and how you cannot see the HL switch at all.
The sand pics show my M1A2 (did a much cleaner job of opening up the hatch on it) and the rear hull plate screw and inner fender that would be in the way of trying to mount the on off switch under a phone box.

"White Room nearly finished just a couple of items remaining to accomplish then a coat of white paint. I still have work to do on the forward bulkhead as a result of the relocation and correct the floor at the same bulkhead to remove the upward slope noted in the photos. It will be good to get beyond all the structural changes and reinforcements.

As always comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!!!!!

Atc, isn't that the old HL board and transmitter with crystals I think ??? . My first Abrams came with the 2.4 system but that was defective so I put in two 2.7 rx 18's to get rid of the hull jerk when the main gun is fired.

Got a new 2.4 receiver and bound it to the transmitter that came with the Abrams and installed it in the HL production turret King Tiger I bought ( modified it into a recoiling barrel HL IR battle system) that had come with the old crystal control system.
