Accessories, Anyone?
Re: Accessories, Anyone?
Have you got a photo of the cover? Maybe I can make one.

Made of thin material and sewn to fit very snuggly over the tubes. Should be possible to replicate with the correct colored cloth

Thank you very much, Giant. That's perfect, and I'll see if I can make something up. How many rocket launcher jeeps do you have? If I can get the cover right I'll make a couple extra.

I have 3. But to be honest I have never seen a pic of the real ones with the covers, just ones of them set up to fire their rockets with no covers in sight.
Thanks for the offer of more covers but if I felt the need for them I would do up some using the old paper or thin fine cloth and white glue method which would probably look more realistic as to how the material would drape over the tubes.
The main advantage if you can sew up exact copies is that if you would sell yours it would bring a higher price from a true collector of Danbury mint jeeps.

I have an OD Green material called Supplex that might do the trick. I found this stuff on the forum, the sailboat guys use it for sails and it comes in all colors. I picked up a couple yards to try and make some tents and truck/halftrack covers, just in case I ever find or make a deuce and a half.

Sounds like a good plan if its very finely woven an thin. At any rate it could probably be given a light watery white glue coating to take out any stiffness and to drape correctly and then if the color changes to much be painted. That way it could be removed if desired and still keep its shape so it could be put back on.

Your going to end up with so many pieces that a simple village scene won't be big enough to do justice to all the static pieces. You will have to build a whole city with German defenders and allied attackers.

That's a great idea Paul! I used my wife's blow dryer on hot/high to heat them up and straighten them out.

Excellent fix, Paul, and just one more of your ideas I plan to flagrantly copy.
