Another Tamiya sherman

Post by Del »

I recently swapped this kit with Lee (model builder 4) and she's getting close to ready.
Just need to dirty her up a bit.

Hi Del,

You've done a cracking job on the build sir  it's nice to see it all together rather than me looking at a box of bits  , look forward to the weathering stage now,

Cheers, Lee.

Looks good but didn't you stick a 76mm barrel on her?

Yes I did stick a 76 on her.i didn't like the howitzer thing and Lee kindly sent me the 76 so in she went.
I'm still trying to think of a name for her and think I might make some logs up to hang on the sides later.

76 mm had different gun mantle as did the 75mm. Don't know how detailed you want to get but I think the 76 would require a different turret also. The shorter 75 could use the same turret and with some care the current mantle can be modified the look correct or a resin one put on (usually sold as a gun barrel and mantle kit) .

That's the whole point for most of us. Build something we like. Who's to say for sure that your version never existed as a one off done be a maintenance co. (clever people in the field) out of parts from unusable tank wrecks.
