Motor pinion

Post by mitchell »

Hey guys, looking for a little help here. I'm trialing out a new pair of Mato brass gearboxes for the JT, but I'd like to keep the black 480 motors. Now the motor pinion on each motor is different. Would i be able to swap them over? I've tentatively tried but they seem stuck fast.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need a pinion puller. I got mine from Amazon for like $8.00. Sorry can't link on my phone.

Make sure the pinion puller works on 2.3mm shafts or you might find it is too big for your pinion.

When I bought my Brass WALTERSON Gearboxes they came with a tube of oil and a GEAR /PINION PULLER, so if you know anyone with Walterson gearboxes they might be able to help you out.

This is the one I use (can’t remember where I bought it)

Although the pushing pin is too big for 2.3mm shaft motors, so I removed pin put it in a drill and spun it whilst filing it until it was narrow enough.

I've put them in and gave them a run to see, much slower than any of my 4:1's, but lots of torque. Tempted to keep them as is now

Im planning to install one of those in my panzer III. How does it go with the other pinion?

Have you tried with a 3S lipo battery? Maybe you could get both torque and speed.
