You should never turn off the transmitter first on anything Radio Control. Most systems have a fail safe mode when the receiver loses the signal. On more mainstream ( Spektrum, Futaba, JR...etc) products you can set each channel to go to a certain position when the signal is lost.

What system do you have?

Has it just started to do this? Or has it had work? Check your wiring as it sounds like the power cable is plugged into a motor socket....
remember...it's just a plastic tank... :/

It was working fine when i bought it a couple of weeks ago. iwas thinking that i might have to change the gear box on the right side. I unplug it from the board it stops, plug it back in and it srarts. Im thinking maybe its that because everthing else works, also thinking of putting metal gears. The board is a multi function unit heng long. I tried looking for awire thats not right, no luck. I tried alot of places to find a responce, i reaallly appreciate your feed back guys. This tank is becoming like a part of the family

Only reason I can find, would be the wiring. If you have checked that it is right, then maybe try rebinding the controller to the tank??

Try reversing the motor plugs where they go in the rx. If the left track will now keep spinning my guess would be that the rx is defective.
Once its functions are turned off by shutting off the transmitter you should only have headlights flashing until you turn of the battery switch on the tank.
Don't think I have ever head of this problem before.

Thanks greengiant, i unplugged both the gear wires connected to the board, whether the left or right is plugged in to the left connector on the board that gear will continuosly turn, i am assuming it must be the board. Sound about right, if so no any places that are cheap prices. Also do you recommend changing my gears to metal as well as the track...

Thank you kindly

Depending on how old your tank is, you should ask the seller, to replace your board.

Definitely a bad RX. Depending on the version you have RXs are pretty inexpensive on EBAY just make sure that if you have a 2.4 version you get one that is exactly the same ( I think there were 3 different versions and you must have one that works with the HL transmitter you are using). If you have the older 2.7 version with changeable crystals on the receiver board and transmitter they are really cheap to replace.
