Ian,

Are there any plans to include sbus support in the IBU3? As we start getting more channels and features it would cut down on the receiver to controller cables. = less things to come loose and go wrong.

Hi Mark,

Not at the moment, I have raised the idea with the manufacturer but for now it's considered a small market audience and a lot of work. Maybe in the future as more radios support sbus at cheap prices then maybe.

An alternative to having 8 servo cables is have one on channel one then just connect the other 7 signal terminals with header pin wires.

I see that there is an option to drive external ESC's. Is this basically a PWM output? Is one able to turn off the motor drivers on the IBU3?

Yes PWM output for external ESC, And through pc configure software can select on board esc, external or both.

Here's a video with left track using onboard Esc and right track external ESC with brushless motor.

Interesting! So we have one brushed motor running off the OEM motor driver, and a brushless motor on an external ESC. I noticed that the track speeds are matched when you were going straight. Does the software do this automatically or are there encoders that one needs to add to the gear box or is it just simply trim??? Also can you select mixed throttle/steering (one stick) or independent throttle based steering (dual sticks)?

Does the IBU3 package come with the housing shown in the picture?

When will the PC software be released? Do you need a PC to make changes? Is there an Android/Iphone app?

PC software available now, I be adding it as a download to my website over the next few days along with other IBU3 related downloads. But to protect reverse engineering of the sounds the PC configure software will only work when a genuine IBU3 is connected. The manual has some screen shots which may help understand the software before using it.

As for other platforms, at this stage it’s PC only. I don’t think Android and Iphone versions will be offered as needs USB connection and I don’t think either natively have that capability. I’ve briefly looked into a raspberry Pi & touch screen combination running Win10 lite (or what ever it’s called) but even this could start at around £50 for the kit

It's been looked into, but initial thought is because the pc software will be changed a few times after initial launch following user feedback. When software is stable it could be ported to Mac.

Scalawag who uses a Mac as tried a few other avenues for using pc software on the Mac but has resorted to using boot camp and Windows 7.

I'm also trying a bootable Linux stick with wine and software to work in Mac computers but although all the guides make it sound easy I cannot get it to boot
