Desert Bulldog

Post by Jake79 »

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a desert colored Bulldog I know its highly unlikely but theres got to be one somewhere in the world...I have had a good search and found no such Bulldog, I'm itching to paint something while I wait for parts for another build and fancied a desert Bulldog, bored of Olive Drab, so if anyone's seen a pic of one please post it up....

Cheers

I don't recall what post it was or what key word you might use in the "Search" feature of the board....But I do recall one member posting pics of tanks found in Saudi Arabia...I remember it because there was a Chaffee in pretty good condition still...So painting one in desert sand wouldn't be inconceivable ;)

Though I have one...don't really like it lol....there are actually many indescrepencies with the model....it's probably one of the worst from HL or Taigen aside from the PanTiger...with that said though...it can be made into a nice model...try contacting GreenGiant...he did a few ...and worked on the real ones if I recall

Sorry, Jake, I don't know. I know the tank is off in more than one place but that's about all. I do know i really love mine. I put a TK22 in it and I have the two hulls tops so I can go back and forth from turret to the quad .50s, and it's just a really great tank to drive. I just put those latest and greatest gearboxes with all the ball bearings in it and now it's even better. I also did the front lights, and I have some of the LEDs left over if you need a couple. Those I could send in a letter so international shipping rates won't stop me if you need a couple. I did all four lights in the quad top, but I think I'll only do two in the turret top, as I understand that's correct. Two headlights and the other two are night vision or IR or something else, just not regular headlights.

To get it be the correct size takes a lot more then just a bit of lowering.
If that is all you want to do just remember that the more you cut the hull to get rid of the big space between the tracks and the fenders the longer the upper will be compared to the lower and you will have to correct that discrepancy.
3mm should not be much of a problem but you still may have to move the headlights back a bit and sand off a bit of the front and rear of the upper hull to get the front top and bottom to match up when screwed together.
You will also find the gearboxes are to tall for the top and bottom to go back together. I solved that problem by heating the lower hull and pushing the fronts of the gearboxes down a bit being careful not to have them cant to the side which would make the rear sprockets not square with lower hull. I believe others have modified the gearboxes to get the same result.
