Matorro King Tiger - metal gearboxes

Post by forgebear »

Hi there. I have a King Tiger in at the moment for someone who wants a repair as it doesn't climb very well. I think it's because it has a plastic gear/metal track combo and the motors are too small to turn it all round, but all ideas greatfully received. Also, if it does need better motors (the heng Long one won't fit, does anyone have any idea where to get them from. I can't seem to find them anywhere, apart from Matorro of course who I have contacted. Thanks Dave :(

dont know it this will help, but i fitted Impact boxes to my Tamiya KT, from what i can see, they probably would fit the matoro KT, im after bigger motors, some one on here suggested Speed 400 motors or bigger 480 motors but they did say the heng long rx14 board probably wont power the 480 motors.

Thanks Kev. I am really stuck with this one, said I would do it thinking I was being helpful!! I have got the gearbox out and it's all one piece which I have split in two. There is just no room for the Heng Long ones which would be better as the existing motors are really small and plastic. The holes the motors sit in are too small to take the Heng Long ones.  :'( ???

Hiya. Thanks for that. I have some of those I think. Do you think I could wedge them into the a Matorro King Tiger or would I have to do some structural work to the chassis. Not too sure about cutting holes the tank, shame he didn't want it airbrushing, could've coped with that  :D :D

HL 'Boxes can be made to fit! The Blitz is currently fitting a pair of Pershing gearboxes to one of my KT's. PM him for details - he usually charges $50 for the work, but as you are not in the US he might let you know how he does it...  ;)
Doing this also allows you to get rid of that unsightly buldge at the front  ;D

I just finished putting 3/1 gearbox from rccommand into my "Elvis" along with metal track and a beefed up rear end.
Please excuse the "Running in" grease all over the place

hi brian
the low profile 'boxes you are on about, you can get them off ebay, or from one of the vendors who are members on here, forgebear, blueslateman, and militarymight all spring to mind, and are uk based, and from them you get good service and abit of discount, hope this helps
