which radio gear ?
which radio gear ?
Hello everyone, I'm Steve, I'm new to rc tanks, and would like some advice from the professionals. I have a 1/16th Taigen Tiger 1, I've upgraded the turret so it recoils which I think makes the world of difference and I've added a few things like fire extinguisher and added camouflage. Now my question is I'm want to upgrade the mother board and radio gear, clark tk22 or ibu2 or bendini, and should I get a 6 channel which one and will they bind automatically. I'm sure you guys have been asked millions of time before so I apologise in advance, thanks guys, Steve.

Re: which radio gear ?
I run IBU2'S in my tanks and love them, not to mention Ian's (Tankbear) customer support CAN NOT be beat! If you have a question or problem he goes above and beyond in his level of help. Sure you can find cheaper but I doubt you'll ever find any better support.
Re: which radio gear ?
I've looked at the ibu2 Web page looks good how and can you load a tiger tank engine sound ?

Re: which radio gear ?
I send all IBU2 out already set as Tiger. But to change the sounds remove the supplied microSD card from the IBU2 put into a computer (might need an adaptor) then it's a case of moving sounds files from chosen tank folder.

Hi, is that turret recoil upgrade the Taigen airsoft recoiling barrel upgrade, or just recoil? If it's the airsoft barrel recoil system then give the Clark Tk22 system a miss. It doesn't work with airsoft recoil. That leaves you with the IBu2 (soon to be IBU3) option, + 6-channel TX and RX. The Australian ASP controller would also be perfect, but the last time I looked, they were out of stock at rctankaustralia.com and have been so for quite some time.Vanguard wrote:Hello everyone, I'm Steve, I'm new to rc tanks, and would like some advice from the professionals. Re: which radio gear ?
Thanks I think it is the Taigen recoil barrel, I got it from welshdragon models but it didnt have any info in the box. Well Im sold on the ibu2 looked at web site and Im going to get one with a 6 channel radio as a package, I want to get the mantlle machine gun working is the litle glass light to the left of the main gun anything specific ? Thanks for your help guys, I do apreciate it, and thanks Tankbear I wi?l download that info, and being set up as a tiger is ideal. Now do these systems not use crystals there is no mention of them, how do you get on with more than one tank together, Im an ex car racer from 2004 and crystals were a nightmare.

The little light next to the main gun is a warning LED to say the airsoft is firing, you can disconnect it or push it into the turret or paint over it.Vanguard wrote:Thanks I think it is the Taigen recoil barrel, I got it from welshdragon models but it didnt have any info in the box. Radios I sell with the IBU2 are 2.4ghz which give better range and less interference than the older FM type with crystals. You shouldn't worry about two models on same frequency with 2.4ghz system millions of combinations, I don't know how it does it but just know it works.

Re: which radio gear ?
I don't mean to steal your thread, but I too am new to RC tanks. I'm also looking to upgrade my stock OEM control boards. Having done some research, it seems that the following are the top end units:
IBU2/IBU2 Pro
IBU3
Elmod Fusion Eco
Elmod Fusion Pro
ASP/ASP +
?
So of these which would you guys say has the following...
1. Scale motion control of the tank. You have to have an eye for this, but as is my Taigen OEM boards induces whiplash every time I try to turn, accelerate, or brake. Those poor 1/16 scale tank crews.
I recently saw a documentary with a King Tiger on a hunt. It was slow and methodical as it krept through a village picking off Shermans, and halftracks. It almost had a Terminator like presence to it - Indestructible, and determined.
Replicating that with my Taigen Tiger, and it would be jerking all over the place, spinning about like a top if I don't get the stick position right during a turn.
2. Do any of the above allow the use of Dual rates/Exponential from the radio?
3. Do any of the above allow the use of a single cable satellite rx (Spektrum, S.BUS, CPPM...etc)?
4. Do any above allow you to reassign the channels to the sticks, knobs, or switches?
Thanks all!

Re: which radio gear ?
I wont answer question 1 since as I sell IBU's so a bit biased.
Regarding the radio I'm 99% certain that all the systems are designed to use regular PWM servo outputs on a 4 channel radio. Some use more channels for enhanced features but a 4 channel will give all the controls of your standard HL/Taigen tank.
No mixing or duel rates needed, if anything it causes confusion to the electronics.
assigning channels and switches etc. going back to basic and 4 channels you shouldn't need to mess with the radio simply swapping the servo leads around the receiver will sort it out. for additional features then yes some assigning will be required for example on the IBU2 Pro channel 5 should be assigned to a 2 position switch and channel 6 a rotary knob. The IBU3 you don't you configure it all through PC software which programs the IBU3, in fact the IBU3 you can randomly plug all 8 servo leads into any rx channel and the PC software will configure it all to what you want.
