Michael's Comet Repaint...

Post by dgsselkirk »

So here is my friend Michael's Comet that he had me paint while he plays with some electronic issues I had on a couple of my vehicles... He didn't want this one too weathered so just some paint touch up, light dusting on upper, road dirt on the wheels and extreme lower, light chips and scratches and some black pen lining. Doesn't sound like much but still took about 25-30 hours! 8O 8O 8O

Really wish I had that model, more than any tanks I actually possess..and congrats on the scale burned- out diorama too. I've not seen that original touch before, and it certainly adds atmosphere.

Herman....... The decals were a grab bags of leftovers from Elite Armour's Firefly sheet, so even though it does have a New Zealand insignia on the right, there is also a Polish marker on the left......... :-) An International crew perhaps ?

As always, dgsselkirk's magic touch brings the tank to life. Thank you again Dean !

Wow, that looks awesome! Great work by you both, Michael and Selkirk. The Comet's a really nice-looking machine and you've done it proud.

Any chance of some close-up shots, please? That's close to the level of weathering I'd like to attempt on my T-34 and I'd be keen on some ideas.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. What amazes me is that Michael actually built this thing to fight! It has full IR electronics in it using a Clark board.

I'll see what I can do about some close ups. Anything in particular Raminator?

Upper is from Ludwig:

He sells the bottom too, but I wanted a more robust RC platform, so I mated it to a T34 lower from Heng Long, and fitted it with Leo metal road wheels, PzIV metal tracks, rollers and sprockets and ZTZ idlers. Clark electronics.

Basically best of both worlds. A custom upper with a Heng Long RC bottom and Clark electronics.
