Post by jarndice »

Just a footnote that Ray Tomlinson who has long been acknowledged as the inventor of E-MAIL died today Sunday March 6,
I reckon we all wherever we are on the www owe him a vote of gratitude,
So thank you Mr Tomlinson RIP.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

At least you won't be getting 80+ emails a day like I do :-<

Actually, I quite like the taste of Spam- and it's actually considered a delicacy in Maui..as the General will attest; but the variety inadvertently spawned by our late inventor is totally indigestible.. Discover something useful, though, and there will always be someone around to abuse it.

On the subject of e-mail, I was one of the unfortunates whose details got peddled around from talk-talk (a million curses to them and all associated with them) so I have had innumerable phishing e-mails and scam phone calls so anyone who was unfortunate enough to have follwed my example and been with them then please do beware!! Of course Talktalk deny that my details were actually stolen despite the fact that these guys actually call knowing my name and pretend to be talktalk. @) @) :'( Alwyn

AL, Our phone is set up so that if a caller with holds their number the call won't go through. Most phone companies offer the service and some offer it free of charge.

Thanks Jarndice, unfortunately my new supplier charges for that service, plus some people I deal with (like NHS) withhold the number so I can't just block the calls. Thanks anyway. Actually I think you can buy a phone system that will do the blocking as well and they aren't expensive. It won't worry me from Thursday anyway as I'll be in Spain. Regards Alwyn
