Max, good afternoon,
No link that I could see ( Amazon ) but there is one more and it is sold from an outfit called Diecast Models Wholesale. Thank you, Doc, I am looking forward to breaking ground on the tank village later this year after we are all settled in. Current build is the 1/6 Stuart and that's on hold along with the rest of my normal life ( living out of a closet *chuckles* )
regards,
Painless

Max, it looks like that Case IH T-340 was built from 1959 to 1965. I only know that because I looked it up, and saw the info on this link: http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Internat ... 340_series

But really - if you repaint it and use it in a scene - nobody but YOU is going to know that it's off by a few years. I mean, the design for the tracks and general outline of the frame & body didn't change all that much - improvements were probably more applicable to the engine installed. I have a diecast Caterpillar D2 that I am planning to turn into one that the Seabees used during their island campaigns in the Pacific, Although this one has hydraulic lines to the small actuators on the side frames for the blade, I am planning to remove them. On the ones they used at the time, they used a cable winch on the rear, and ran it over a trapeze to raise and lower the front blade. That means I have to built the trapeze and winch, (and paint it grey, I think. Their modern equipment is olive drab, but I think back them they matched US Navy vehicle colors).

Oh yeah - that's another option for you Painless. I had forgotten about having this one and had to dig it out. According to Wiki, they started manufacture in 1938. It is MUCH smaller than the IH TD-14, and one like it is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SpecCast-CAT-D2 ... SwPc9W0yri

There's also a site with some very thought-provoking photos of military equipment here: https://classicdozers.wordpress.com/military-dozers/

Sass,
Thank you again! I have that one in my watch list now. I saw a 1937 Caterpillar 'Traxcavator' with the frame and winch lines on Ebay but it is a 250.00 item. A little rich for my accessory budget. ;o)

Don't forget that any battle scene requires accessory flames: perma fire...so to speak. I thought these looked really cool..well, hot..

The bulldozer Painless mentioned was found on EBay in the US.
It came painted as a military unit and is a correct model number for WW2 and bidding got up to $225 before I won it. Its the only one I've ever seen on EBay so it must have been a very limited release.
I have quite a few of the Danbury mint willies jeeps and they still show up regularly but the bidding on them usually gets close to $150 for ones that are missing some parts and without the factory box and papers. The ones with the missile launching tubes are usually sold for a lot less then the stock ones but if they have the original box and papers prices will get into that $200 range.
There is a 1/18 scale jeep trailer that shows up on but very seldom. It was originally meant to be part of a plastic Vietnam era M151 mutt and trailer combo and is pretty badly done but with some work it can be made into a WW2 jeep trailer and the slight difference in scale is not noticeable even when hooked up to a Danbury mint jeep.

Hey Guys, First, Painless, I'm watching this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SpecCast-CAT-D2 ... 2117053076

so if you bid on it PM me and I'll drop out. Also, what time frame will you be making your battlefield? I don't have the room you do, so if you're going to have an area for modern stuff I'd very much like to donate the newer John Deere for your field (it would give me a real kick to know I had made a tiny contribution to a cool place far away), with the provision that it pays my first visit's admission. :) And lastly, PW, I just got this one in 1/16 scale for $18 plus $12 shipping. I think that was a good choice for my needs and should fit very well in my little farmyard.

Next, Sass, I'm not going to get the T-340 because I already have the JD (same time frame, late 50s, close enough for the girls we go out with) and also because I'm watching a D2 (currently at 50 bucks) and I just picked up the kerosene tractor, which I think could very well have been present in Europe at the time (but I haven't thoroughly researched export records or anything). I think it's very cool that you took the time to dig up the info.

Next, Giant, you sure know your DB jeeps, but for this weekend only things are a bit wierd. I just got this one

without the box or top and a bit of scuff, for $49 US with free shipping. I think that was a very sweet score and a perfect candidate for RC conversion. If any of your Jeeps have been RCed I'd like to get very friendly with your brain, if I may be so bold. I'm also about to bid on one that's like new and currently at $78 with less than 2 hours to go, and there's a rocket equipt jeep for $179 with still no bids and about to end. Too rich for me, though, but I will try for the regular jeep. I just saw a good one go for $90 and another for $150. Like you say, condition makes a big difference, so for RC use I can afford to be forgiving on minor damage.

EDIT: PW, that's the same D2 mentioned above that I'm watching, so when the time comes let me know if you want it so we don't compete.

Wow! Went for the Danbury Mint Jeep, $78 with less than an hour, jumped it to over $110 and still didn't win! That makes my $49 Jeep look even better. Oh well, there's another up in a couple days. We'll see. It's still under 40 bucks. We'll be watching!

Max,
I'm watching the same one you are bidding on but will not bid. I'm waiting to get the big red IH from Amazon. That will be a fun paint job. ;o) My friend, all of my stuff is WWII but the little area I make up to run the tanks will be generic bombed out village so you are more than welcome to come run a tank or two when I get it built. Too far out right now to say more than "this year sometime" ;o) Or at least a good start made. Sweet find on the Kerosene Tractor! ;o)

Painless

I'm going to pass on the D2 as well (already blew way too much money on this) but the other one I sent you is still at ten bucks with 2 days to go. It will be very interesting to see what happens there. The D2 is already just over $56 plus $8 s/h.

I'm on a Danbury jeep and currently have high bid, so if any of you guys are after that PM me and I'll tell you what I put in for max bid. If you're willing to go higher I won't bid again, but if you're not please don't run the bid up on me. If I get this one it will be the second Danbury Jeep and I will RC one of them (or both). And of course I'll make video, Silly Wabbits.
