Soggy suspension

Post by mickyb »

Well, I have got the el-mod into the Tiger......including some other electric wizzardry that I will share with you later.

I have 3:1 gearboxes with 480 motors, metal tracks. full metal upgrade suspension....now she weighs 10.2 lb with a 3000mah battery installed and a CD turret up top.

Sadly I have noticed that the uprated springs are not enough to support the tank. If I push down on the front, is stays down....I would say that the uprated suspension is inadequate for the weight.

Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it please. I dont want to have to go to the compleate upgrade chasssis just jet.....I need to eat and clothe myself as well as build tanks.

Any advise is welcome ......Mike

Hi there is a little trick remove the suspension arms and drill another hole for the springs about a third of the way round so the springs are tighter it works quite well and dosnt break the springs .

See.... I just knew there was someone with a cunning plan......

This is a bit more than saggy. It sits there high on the suspension, but if you push it down...it stays down... a bit like neutral buoyancy.

The suspension isn't binding at all, it just hasnt got the strength it needs to push the tank back up. I will try the new hole and reposition the spring. If it doesn't work I will have to spend the family food money on a new ally chassis.....mmmmmm

Thanks fellas.........Mike

Might I suggest that you inadvertently switch channels on the tv, so that the family is watching informative documentaries on the dangers of obesity, or how to live on thruppence a week, as this will undoubtedly assist you in your endeavours.

Dear "concerned from Tunbridge Wells"

I have spoken with the Spouse (head houskeeper) and advised her of future plans on provisions for the household.

Your advice is most appreciated. I will indeed change channels and make notes on frugality in the family environment as soon as the cast is removed fom my broken arm and the swelling subsides around my right eye.

I must be working far too hard and passed out as everything went black whilst advising Spouse of said plans!

Much obliged for your enthusiastic support ......
