West Wales signing in

Post by eddscott »

Hi there,

Although I've been a member for about a year, it's only now I've cleared my project area (aka the dining room table) and it's time to build my Tamiya JS2.

I've looked at pics and video and have invested in a airbrush kit. I've been into RC for as long as I can remember although cars and racing are my primary interests.

Something that's put me off is painting. I simply cant do it particularly well. I can build anything but put a brush in my hand and it all goes south. Anyway, I'm determined to at least have a go. Also, my GF is absolutely amazing artist and although has never handled an airbrush I'm hoping she can at least lend a hand.

My only thought at the moment is whether to jump straight in and build the JS2 or buy a 1/35 static and practice on that first.

I also have a Gepard. It's the 1/16 static model but I've looked into converting it to RC - I'd want the full works though so I know it's a little "involved". I think the Gepard is such a cool looking tank but I'd want to be confident I can do it justice before starting it.

Edd there is another alternative, You could beg borrow or BUY a HENG LONG Tank and using debonder a craft knife and a hex spanner strip it down and modify it and then rebuild it,
Finish by painting it, all for an outlay of about £150 total,
At the end your skill level would give you the confidence to tackle anything and as you make errors with the HENG LONG you will clearly see ways to fix them which all helps for the future.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
