The last thing I ordered was some Panther tracks and muzzlebreak. The postage was $44 but I didn't pay tax, duties or a handling fee.silversurfer1947 wrote:It's not the timescale that really concerns me, it's the financial uncertainty. Ordering from Singapore over a certain value renders the items liable for VAT, which obviously inflates the price of what are quite expensive goods. In addition, if there is VAT to pay, you then get stuffed with a handling fee (unknown) by the courier service. Based on a previous experience with a camera lens, the fee is not insubstantial. Overall, it makes it impossible to know exactly what things will cost. I prefer to know what I am going to pay for things before I go ahead.
I tend to order allot of stuff from the states, china, malaysia and singapore for RC cars and it can be a little bit of a gamble, however at worst I've had to pay import duties on items and a handling fee for those import duties. If it's Fedex it's usually fairly cheap but it's DHL you have to watch. Those guys are complete assholes.
