Yes, no resistors or anything, just make sure that you get the sensor leads going to the correct terminals on the 5 pin plug. You don't need any apple at all really, you can put the sensors inside the turret with small holes to allow the IR beam to hit them, which is what many of us do.

I dont want to upset you, this is my last question I promise!

Could you do a simple diagram of the correct way to placing the terminals that you are talking about? I dont want to fry one of the terminals or even the board.

Thanks for everything!

You shouldn't fry anything getting it wrong it just won't work. I've done wrong many times :{

I do a simple diagram after my lunch

Me neither, but then again there's always a first time! lol.

Briefly the 5 pin plug is wired as follows:

Led -
Led+
Sensor
Sensor
Sensor

Easy way to test the circuit is to put the 5 wires from the plug into a block connector.
Clamp an led into the end two holes.
Solder three wires onto the legs of a sensor (use heatshrink).
Clamp the wires into the remaining three holes on the block connector.
You will have to cross over two of the wires from the sensor as they are GND, SiG, V+, but the plug is in a different order.
Plug it into the board and start the tank, the led should flash if it is the correct way around.
You then need another tank with IR to test the sensor is wired correctly.
Once you know which wires go where, you can hook up the rest of them so that you have four sensors and four led's. They can be daisy chained to save on cabling and space if you want.

I can't recall the order off the top of my head, but if Ian is feeling generous he may be able to help with the details.

Well, after a couple of months waiting for all the pieces to arrive (Thats what happens when you buy in china, lol) I am not getting it work. I have a ibu2 pro and a tamiya Sherman to experiment with.

First I installed the IR system on the IBU 2 Pro. I have installed the IR emited in the tamiya IR led port, and in the TX+ and TX - HL IR port. Due I can not see the IR Light, I tried with a normal light led to check if it works, and it does in both ports, so then I replaced it to the IR led again, I assume it works good.

Now I have some more questions: I installed one IR receiver as you draw me, Tankbear, and tried to shoot my own tank and nothing happened. Can it be done? Can I shoot my own tank? (some kind of stupid friendly fire, I know, but is more practical than having two tanks at the table)

If you can shoot your own tank, then, definitelly something is not working on mine. If not, I will try to install the receivers on the sherman.

And, If I wire everything on the Ibu HL port and I shoot to my tamiya sherman, would it work?

Thanks again for your help!

No you cannot soot your own tank. Shame as be nice to verify own tank, but no.

No pluging the above Apple into the IBU2 port won't work, well will but won't shoot IR code.

Basically the HL port has 2 pins IR out 3 pins IR receive, the tamiya is 2 pins hit led 3 pins IR receive. So if you plug tamiya Apple into the HL socket the hit LEDs will light up when you fire and not fire IR code. On the receiving side it same on both so should take hits.

Shame I cant kill my own troops, lol.

As always, thanks for your fast reply, Herr Tankbear. I am not sure what I have done, but it seems to work now. This is mi first test video.

phpBB [video]

The Panzer III sound is delayed because it was made to work with airsoft.

Now I only have to wire 4 receivers together and have fun!

Ah well, I nearly forgot it. I have never played with IR, but I thoght the sherman was suposed to have some lives... I have shoot it 20 times and it seems to be immortal... I must be missing something.

With Tamiya tanks if you plug in the apple after power on it makes it take hits but not die. Turn tank off and on and try again.
