Torro Jagdtiger has arrived!

Post by mitchell »

Big is definately beautiful when it comes to the Jagdtiger, ended up getting the desert BB version. It arrived today, safe and sound, you beauty!

Right so it comes from Torro's factory fitted with the 4;1 gearbox, it spools up so smoothly and creeps along really nicely at ultra low speeds, its quite impressive.

The thing is, my Tiger, which incidentally is quite a bit heavier, also has the 4;1 gearbox, but the V3 rather than the V2 gearbox in the JT, and although it can maintain a nice low creeping speed the JT does it effortlessly. I even have momentum enabled on the TK22.

Are Clark boards just inherently jerky movers?

I find that Clark doesn't handle the extremes well, so I tend to adjust the trim/channel limits on the radio to less than 100 to compensate. You might want to try that with the Tiger and see if you can get a nice realistic speed and not get the bunny hop when you go full throttle. I just did the same to my bring new Panther F with Clark board and it runs like a tank now rather than a hot rod.

I never got on with the 2 i had.

Went back to Tamiya DMD setups.
The sound is not as good or as flexible but the drivability was much better.

Cheers

Thats my next plan mate. Messed around with the expo, which helped a little.

Yeah Tim the driveability is "ok". It would make such a difference if the TK series had an SD card option, its quite limiting otherwise.

First thing i did when i got the Jagdtiger was to get that stock smoker out. Reminds me of a dog i had once - lots of noise but not much else. Popped a cracking little mk1 TARR unit in there.

I'm really itching to get an IBU2 for it

This is mine with an IBU2, and since this I've installed the TPA amplifier for the IBU. I've got a ton of videos of it on my youtube channel.

This is the thread for the JT, and there are also videos for the IBU install and the TPA.

Ain't it a great big beautiful beast? I absolutely love mine.

Yip, their beautiful big things. The factory paint job is better than most but still very factory fresh isn't it? There's some nice space under the bonnet thats begging to be filled with tech! Ha ha! Recently aquired AK's track and wheels set that i'm going to put to good use

I've been trying to remove the spare tracks from the side, but their glued in i think and i don't want to apply too much pressure, hmm

I adore mine, its a real quality item, from the high end metal tools to it's impressive size (giggedy). I initially wondered at it's price tag, more or less double that of my "Full metal" tiger, but now after closer inspection i am beginning to appreciate where at least some of that has gone.

Going to have a lot of fun with this one

I found the low speed control on the Clark boards to be a little iffy. I'm with Tim the Tamiya dmds have the best control IMO

If you really do want to remove the spare glued on tracks I would suggest a debonder, I use "ZAP 7 " It is most effective in breaking down super glues,
Coat the area and let it soak,
Using gentle GENTLE pressure work the tracks, at the same time adding more debonder.
Once the tracks are free YOU MUST CLEAN OFF THE REMAINING DEBONDER.
RIP MAX are the agents for the product and most hobby shops sell
Not all Debonder's are for removing items on models some are for removing super glue from skin, make sure you get the right Debonder.
shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Take a look at this, Mitchell. I made one error and said my tracks aren't loose, I meant to say they aren't glued, they are loose. And I have both Uncure and Zap 7 and I've found the Uncure to work much better.

Yeah like yours some of mine do have a little play in the tracks, but when looking from the inside you can see that there has been glue on the holders, would much prefer getting them off to do some weathering

Straight ootb the tank can creep one track at a time, no problem. I remember watching one of the first available video promo's for this tank and how "wrong" it looked when it was driving around like an F1 car. I suppose that put off a few people, when in reality the big tank will move as slowly and smoothly as you want it to, maybe the video was a rush job
