Wogan.

Post by jarndice »

Anyone in Britain knows "WOGAN" If you don't then truly it is your loss, Well yesterday 31 Jan 2016 he did what most of us thought could never happen,
He went and died,
My heartfelt sympathies to his family,
I imagine most people have memories special to them, one of mine is this,
I had been driving up from my home in the south and now I was leaving the M6 heading into Preston, Tel was on the radio and a record ended and he said "I have a letter from a Mr RUDOLF HUKKER"----- SILENCE followed by a spluttering "You got me"!!!
I laughed for hours after, and that's what he did,
If you began the day in a bad mood you could guarantee it would be gone by the time he had finished,
And the fabled "Janet & John" story's which in the hands of anyone else would have been offensive but with Tel it was innocent fun.
May God bless him and Thanks.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

He was a legend when it came to taking the mickey, intelligent humour and that soothing Irish lilt made him an absolute master of his art. Like so many than have passed recently, we are unlikely to see their like again in our lifetime.

Kommt Zeit, Kommt Rat...with age comes wisdom (loosely.)...but also with age, quite unexpectedly..and though you try to resist it,.. and even contemplate donning the motorcycle leathers again... you find yourself visiting garden centres, avoiding the mirror, playing with tanks, napping in the afternoon and (though I always admit to Radio 4),, listening to radio 2. :O The radio experience now is, post Wogan, a much diminished one...there's a charm void there. Yep, many aspects of living appear determined by genes. Sadly, extinction is one of them...
