Hi All,
Well I started the strip down tonight, not going to be a weekend job. The battery I purchased slightly bigger than I thought but with some cutting of the inner board all should be ok "I Hope". I found 2 loose wires which I think connects to the battery to drive the servos and the big wires from the speed controller also connect to the battery so may pay me to get double connector. Anyway I have posted some photos just to keep you informed. I also need a new on/off switch hopefully connect it correctly lol. Anyway all will keep you posted but as I am just starting from being away for 30 years it may take a little while.

Hi All,

Just to say connected up the old Sherman tonight seemed to be ok and clutches worked but then the clutch servo died but at least I know it still works. :/

Just a quick follow up, having trouble finding servo, now looking at upgrade to speed controller and using that servo for the steering. Any suggestions welcome.

Is the servo that rare???...there's a lot listed on EBAY....and most RC aircraft shops carry a wide variety

Hi Alpha,

The problem is they are quite small compared with the servos today, I have contacted a Tamiya dealer and he is trying to sort out the problem. Trouble is as you can see there is very little room when the battery is in there so keeping my fingers crossed.

Smaller than the new micro servos used in Helicopters?????....No...can't be smaller than those...they have new ones with metal internals and everything...I think you could probably find a suitable replacement just using dimensions ;)

Any way...Good Luck with the Tamiya guy

Same problem here in Hawaii....reason I do a lot of shopping on EBAY :haha: :haha: ....those kind of parts are plentiful from China...who just about ships anywhere ....So at least you have options if the Tamiya guy can't help you ;)
Just take a quick measure....search on EBAY under micro servos....there should be at the very least a hundred listings ;) ...regular futaba types even more :D
