Heng Long and clarke t22 boards

Hi.
Just a general query.
If I wanted to put a Clarke T22 board in my H/L. kv2 tank, would I be correct in thinking that it is not a plug n play jobbie.
and that I would have to purchase another gadget to tune it in ?
any other info , on Clarke boards would be helpful

Hey Wads, I still consider myself a Noob, but I do have a bit of TK22 experience. Yes, you need gadgets, primarily a programming device and a TV remote control. The device you can make your self with a jst plug, an apple and an LED. Not difficult, I did my own and saved ten bucks. Well, nine anyway,

As for plug and play, not quite. It mainly depends on what tank and if it's airsoft or IR. The airsoft Sherman was a snap and only involved a couple of connections, but I have yet to put a TK22 in an IR tank so perhaps others here can help if you have IR. So which do you have, IR or airsoft in your KV-2? Does it have a slip ring?

Yes to tune it you need IR receiver and Sony remote control.

Also the TK22 has servo elevation so need to add a servo and some rewiring.

Clark boards have a power supply connection and a separate switch to turn on/off. If using HL tank wiring the power switch is in the power line so you need to plug the switch output.

Think that's about it, but been 3 years since I last used so others might have more up to date info.

Hey Wads, it really depends on how much you want to take advantage of the new board. If you are just replacing the Heng Long electronics it is pretty straight forward. If you want directional control of the elevation you will need to do some re-wiring. IR would be a little more complicated, since the the wiring is a little different, and also the IR connector is a special 1.00mm spacing one.

Also you will need a Sony remote and a DIY jumper to get into the programming mode.

If you go to "U" TUBE there is a walk through for "INSTALLING THE CLARK TK22" which includes the little bit of rewiring that needs doing, Well worth looking at.

Hi Guys.
Cheers for the info, it confirms what I thought, that it would be beyond me, I am no good at wiring, etc.
Shame the Clarke has great sound , but too much messing around.
the last time I connected a mato kv2 turret to a h.l. kv1 base I had almost all , working, so I will stick to the old h.l.
set up, and just get rid of the hidious jerk when firing the main gun.

Well, Wads, in that case, have you thought about an IBU2? Completely plug and play, great sound, and only about $50 more than the clark.

If you do stick with HL and want to get rid of that horrid track recoil then allow me to suggest the Komodo board. About $20 and easy to install.

Yes a lot of people use ibu2 boards, I will look into it, as it seems an easier way to upgrade, I want to make this h/l,
kv2 better than my last one, and go the whole hog.

There is always the "ASP" board again it is "Plug & Play" and in the same kind of price range as the CLARK & the IBU2.and it has a second MG socket.

shaun, Max, can I get an idea the cost of these boards from your perspective ? I mean for us Canadian's it is like 2 for 1 almost so I am always puzzled when they get compared in price. I can easily get two Clark here for the price of one ASP or IBU2. Are they really that close in price in US and UK ?
