Airsoft Units

Post by Pebs434 »

The first of many questions I'm afraid.
I bought my Taigen Tiger 1 about 3 weeks ago and the BB's have a mind of their own. It fires roughly every third time and then dribbles the balls out of the end of the barrel. Nitrotek have sent me a replacement airsoft unit at my request to save shipping a 7 kilo tank back and fourth. Below is the original black one and the new white one. There is something missing off the rear of the new one which I assume is the recoil as that now doesn't work. However, the BB's fire perfectly now which proves the original defect. I am very pleased with myself though as I watched the relevant YouTube video and changed the unit without any problems apart from seemingly having the wrong replacement part. I have really got the bug to play now!!
Do I request the right airsoft unit from Nitrotek, buy one from another UK seller, or is there an easy solution that I am clearly unaware of. Thank you for reading this and any help that may be forthcoming.
Kind Regards,

John Hi, The first thing you do is breathe a sigh of relief having still retained the contents of your pocketbook and even more surprisingly got a replacement part from "NITROTEK",
If you scroll down to the "BLACKLIST"
Amongst other names you will find "NITROTEK" which I would advise anyone thinking of buying a Tank or spares to go elsewhere for instance to the "RECOMMENDED VENDORS" site on this Forum,
If you decide that you need a replacement part for your AIRSOFT UNIT I would urge you to try another dealer.

I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Unfortunately that's usually how it goes with the replacement firing mechs...you can look at many a shop...and most will not have those two metal contacts
Now I know you went through a lot changing the mechanisms out...there are a couple things you can do....
You can try and put the black one back in....reason being..that bb firing symptom is probably due to a poorly seated barrel....which you probably did a better job doing than the Factory...when installing the white one...if the black unit is still new....it should fire correctly ....if it doesn't after re installation
You could try and swap the internals...that way the contacts and the good parts from the white unit will be together in one case

Good Luck

Hi John, first, that little contact thingie is called the "micro switch", or more commonly, the "trigger switch". When the airsoft unit fires those contacts come together and trigger the track recoil and cannon sound.

Second, where are you? If you're in the states I can help. That white unit is very, very old, and that's why it doesn't have the opening for the trigger switch. The only board I know of that doesn't use a trigger switch is the IBU. I have a couple so my proposal (if you're in the US) is for us to trade. I'll send you a brand new unit with a switch and you can use it in your tank, you send me the white unit and I can use it in one of my IBU equipped tanks. If you're interested and if you're in the states it will cost us $6 each to make the trade. I'll pay postage from me to you and you take care of from you to me. Let me know what you think.

Hi, GARY, According to JOHN's intro he lives in the English Midlands so he is losing out on an offer he should not be able to refuse. :lolno:
Take care.

A piece of advice for the BB's as well. DO NOT use the pellets that come with the kits. These 6mm BB's have seams which can jam at various points in the gun. Also they aloow the air pressure to escape around the BB as it makes it's way out of the breech and up the barrel. This shortens the range considerably. Invest in some seamless polished BB's they are cheap and will give you much better performance... :D

This^^^^ When I got my first tank, I experienced similar behavior. I grabbed some ammo out of my airsoft stash and it performed much better.

Thank you everybody for your invaluable advice. I now know what that dangling bit is called and what it does which is a bonus. Nitrotek apologised today and the correct part is en-route as well as a fellow member sending me an unwanted one so I should be able to sort it out.
Thank you Max-U52 for your offer but as jarndice said I am in the UK. I have now purchased 13,000 BB's in an attempt to get good quality ones as many people on here and on YouTube have said that some are dodgy. I now have top grade polished ones that Airsoft competitors use in their guns etc.
Thank you all again for your help and kindness.
Regards,
John.

Glad you got it sorted out. Can't wait to see photos of it in action. :)

Just make sure they are precision BBs....Personally I like this brand
Image
there are others that might be better...but these have everything I like..particularly a very smooth shiny coat
I do recommend at least 20gm bbs....they hit a little harder :haha: :haha:
Good to hear you are getting another mech  ...that company is really going out of their way to make things good...maybe they reorganized ;)
