Hi there. Im slowly assembling a purchase list for my new Taigen Panther G, however there is one conundrum i have trouble dealing with. Id like to have a bit more top speed available than the recommended 4.1 gearbox setup. Im looking for something close to video from this post: viewtopic.php?p=166357#p166357 , well maybe not THAT fast, but still with enough torque to not cause any problems.
It seems i basically have two options:
4.1 gearbox with higher RPM motors - this would be my preferred choice, however i would need motors with RPM a fair bit higher than 18,000 (stock 4.1 380 motor RPM), and such motors are very hard to find, not to mention availability (has to be Europe...)
3.1 gearbox with higher torque motors - plenty of options for lower RPM motors, but absolutely no concrete info on their torque
Someone calculated that the 3.1 gearbox has 39:1 ratio while the 4.1 has 90:1. Not sure how accurate is that, but it seems that for the 3.1 gearbox something like 10,000-12,000 RPM and i guess twice the torque (compared to stock 3.1 380 motor) would be perfect.
I would be really grateful for some recommendations.
Motors for more torque with 3.1gb / more speed with 4.1gb ?
Re: Motors for more torque with 3.1gb / more speed with 4.1g
Promax 480 motors fit the high low gearbox if they fit the 3:1 (three shaft) gearbox they are quite strong.
Re: Motors for more torque with 3.1gb / more speed with 4.1g
If all you need is more speed, maybe the $7-a-pair water pump motors would work well for you. Both these tanks have 4:1 gearboxes and the only difference is the motors. Stock 380 on the right, 360 motors on the left. Judge for yourself.

The water pump motors are these

You just take them out of the pumps and solder motor leads on for the tank.

Unfortunately i cant find any shop that sells these motors.tao wrote:Promax 480 motors fit the high low gearbox if they fit the 3:1 (three shaft) gearbox they are quite strong.
How is their torque compared to the stock Taigen 380?

Speed looks good in the video, but ive found specifications for this motor and something does not add up. They have 12,500 rpm and very low current drain/power output/torque.

Now you're going down that same confusing road I did, hopefully you'll figure it out, because I haven't. The RS360SH-2885 mabuchi motors are rated just as you say. I do not believe these are -2885 motors, but I can't figure it out. The video doesn't lie, the tank with these motors goes faster.
Oh yeah, those are the v1 gearboxes, with bearings at the axles but not at the gear shafts. Both tanks have the exact same gearboxes, the ONLY difference is the motors.
