Tiger 1 Escape hatch.

Post by jarndice »

My understanding is that the early Tiger 1 had two pistol ports, one on each rear quarter,
If the turret stowage box was fitted across the back of the turret with the pistol ports immediately in front, one each side, there would not be enough space for the escape hatch, ???
My question is WHEN was the ESCAPE HATCH first fitted ???

Thank you Paul, I can breathe a sigh of relief, my Tunisian Tiger is from about February/March 1943.
I have disassembled the thing more times than I wish to think of and changing it again could see it heading for the final ignomy
(Modded to a late Tiger) :lolno:

Dragon have a Tunisian Tiger Feb 1943 model. So you can use their CAD as a reference.

Thank you David,
I am pleased that Dragon, 131 and I are in agreement over the Turret layout, and while we disagree on certain modifications on the Hull I shall l put that down to a delay in getting my Tiger into the workshop for its planned updates due to an event that culminated in an interruption in its service, :lolno:
Perhaps I should say that it is "813" and while I have taken an interest in its history up to the time it suffered severe damage in the Tunisian campaign I have absolutely NO INTEREST In what happened to it after it was towed from the field, that is what allows me the freedom to build MY version of "813" rather than the actual Tank.
And that is my story and I am sticking to it.

I don't know if you're interested in what I know about 813.
