Re: heng long gear ratio
OK, wait, again. It is the M41 Bulldog. Sorry, but for some reason that little typo of yours really boggled my pea-brain. Never mind about the Sherman part.

Re: heng long gear ratio
Great little tank. Mine is the Imex so it came with metal tracks, but I also had a Heng Long M41 that i gave to my nephew, who beats the crap out of it, and last time I checked it was still runnin' strong on the original plastic gears and tracks. That one's airsoft (as are all stock m41s) but his Momma made me disable the cannon.
What kind of upgrades do you have in mind for yours? Sgtseabass on RCU turned one into an IR battle tank.

Re: heng long gear ratio
I ordered a $150 2.4 ghz,with airsoft,smoke and sound.
Really wanted an imex....but limited on funds.
This hl will be testing waters to see if im into tracked vehicles.
Ill eventually fpv it with a micro camera /rx/tx .....something 5.8 ghz for short range .
Eventually metal track setup....nothing fancy.
Ill look into disabling the track recoil aswell.
I chose the bulldog because of the praised track system durability.
But liked the kv just a lil more.
Ill be running mostly in grassy areas

If you're gonna stick with stock electronics the komodo from rcta is the best way to eliminate recoil.
I've just started messing around with FPV and have some good videos on my youtube channel. Right now I just use the Mobius mounted on the turret (I use it both to take video and to drive thru the goggles) but my next project will put the camera in-line with the gun tube and have a monitor on the TX so it can be used mainly as a targeting system. Drive the tank line of sight but glance to the monitor for firing. That will require a much smaller camera, disguised as an IR system, maybe on a Panther, so I'll be watching your FPV efforts with interest.

Re: heng long gear ratio
I have the cm205 on my small quad, decent for the price, range around 150 ft.
Camera with built in 5.8 tx.
Image is decent outdoors but suck in low light.
My only complaint is the bulky connector...has built in voltage regulator.....kinda hard to eliminate it
Its about 3/8x3/8x2 in...pretty compact

Re: heng long gear ratio
I'm just getting started and have lots to learn, but hobby king has a lot of fpv stuff to choose from, and I also have a good friend that's really heavy into quads and fpv racers so I should be able to scrape something together. Have you thought about the problems involved with hiding the fpv camera in a scale tank? I'm thinking some of the stuff the Germans actually used in WWII would make a good start, like the IR stuff they had.

Something like this is what I'm looking at

that could be hidden in something like this

Re: heng long gear ratio
Here's the photo, IR system on the cupola would be perfect for sighting along the gun tube and would easily hide a little camera. What do ya think? Do-able?
