Re: IBU2 set up question

Post by Craigm1992 »

I tried again today and would get mg sounds and turret rotation. I also moved the control stick down to the right and it started the engine. However once the engine was started the tracks would move in full speed reverse without command. I turned it off and when I turned tank back on it would start the engine immediately without command and I had to turn off the tank to stop it rolling off the table. I tried to stop the engine the next time but it would not respond to control input.

I'm probably making a mistake somewhere or that but the tank seems to behave differently with each attempt to start it. It's left me a bit stumped

Edit

Forgot to add I did charge the battery for around 1hour 30mins I reckoned that I hadnt fully drained it last time I fully charged it. I was seriously thinking of getting a charger that says how the charge is going, do most of you guys use those?

First, yes, I use chargers that alert me when the charge is complete. I have an Onyx 240 for nimh batteries.

Next, what TX are you using? Sometimes one of the TX switches will be set to deliver, say, 100% negative to channel three in one position and 0% when flipped. If ch 3 happens to be your throttle channel it can cause a problem, but if you flip the switch it goes away. I have that problem with the T6 radios. If you flip the wrong switch bad things happen. Then again, I have one T6 that the upper left switch will fire the main gun. If only I knew how to control that and make all my radios do that! So what TX do you have, and how many switches? I think they should all be pushed back on start up, but that can vary by radio.

I am pretty sure this is the TX I use, are the TX switches the four switches next to the on/off switch? I think it has 4 switches but I am not 100% sure when it comes to controllers.

OK, that's just a four channel and doesn't have extra switches so that's good. The slide switches next to the joysticks are trim switches and may be the trouble. All four of those must be in the middle! Set them right in the center of their travel, all four switches. If you have your throttle trim moved all the way down it will make the tank go backwards! So center all those switches and see if that helps.

And don't forget to follow the procedure with dip switch 8 to orient everything to the IBU after you center the trim slides.

Is there a way or tools to make sure the are 100% centered? I think they are centred but I struggle to tell whether they are fully in the correct centre position with eyesight. I usually try to judge by the notches on the switch.

When you do the radio to ibu2 configure it will set the mid point, so if the trims look central it be fine.
