Saying Hello!

Post by dougalmack »

Hi, I'm Doug and just joining up  !
Looking forward to Christmas day as my wife has bought me the Tamiya 1:16 M4 Sherman - bless her!
This is my first tank build although I had a Heng Long Tiger 1 a few years ago.
I've been into trucks for a while and I've got 2 Tamiya 1:14 RC models (MAN TGX 6x4 and Mercedes Actros Gigaspace 4x2) with trailers (any of you into trucks as well or should that be the last I mention of them :shh: !).
I was hoping Tamiya would bring out a model of the new Volvo, but couldn't wait any longer and felt the need to build something new - boom, a tank!
I'll be pestering for some tips I'm sure and promise to post some pics when I get started.
TTFN.

Hello and welcome! I hope you guys realize how lucky you are to have someone who has gotten you such a nice gift for Christmas, my wife thinks r/c tanks are a waste of money and of my time. :'( I'm afraid that the few things I have are all I'll ever own due to not wanting to start fights over toys.

My wife has bought me a new tank for Christmas too (She doesn't know yet, I'm going to let her find out on the day.)

My girlfriend has only just discovered my interest in tanks, she thought R/C boats were geeky but has not passed a comment on tanks.

Good luck with the builds.

Welcome to the forum, Doug. Where are you located? Trucks are cool, and can tie right in with the tanks. I have an Opel Blitz 3 Tonner I need to get running one of these days. It's on the list of winter projects, I just haven't gotten that far down the list yet. It will be great to have someone with truck experience. One day I want to scratchbuild a Hanomag SS-100, which is the truck they used to pull the V-2 rockets around.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the welcome - already feeling plenty in common :haha:
I live in Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK
'Trucks are Cool' - like that - like the Opel too!
Perhaps I'll put my tank on the back of my low loader when done!
