Hi Guys,
I’ve had a customer asking for help as I’m not a Mac person I thought I ask here as it will also help other Mac users.
Basically the guy is wanting to make changes to the ibu2.ini setup file on the microSD card, which I believe opens natively with simple text? But the issue is the file won’t open at all, ether clicking it or dragging the file onto the simply text icon or into the program.
Now I’m telling him the setup file is called IBU2.ini although some computers may hide the file association (.ini) and only display IBU2, but he’s referring it as IBU2.init isn’t working. Not clear if he’s mis-typing the email to me or whether he sees IBU2.init file. I know some times other OS systems can see hidden or unused files, but I’m working blind here and only guessing.
Any suggestions from Mac users?

Re: IBU2 setup file and Mac
He may have accidentally renamed it. If it is .init and he puts the SD card back in the IBU2 the chances are that it won't work as the system is looking for .ini, not .init.
The text editor will think that the file needs different software to run it as it won't know what a .init file is. My first suggestion would be to check the file and make sure that it says 'IBU2.ini'. Then try opening it with the text editor.

Hi Paul,
That ties in with what he saying which is getting a grey box with exac in it, but he says the work “exac” is yellow and when clicking on it minify all the icons.
But I told him wrong about simple text.
Should clicking on the setup file automatically open in text edit?
Ian.

Yep, you have it; but, if it's a simple case of having saved the file with the wrong file type ('init' is not a recognised file type) you simply right click the file/drop down to 'Get info'/-and there you can remove the errant 't' from the "name & Extension' section; then click 'save'. Job done.
