Sound issue problem/ source

Just in case anybody runs into this..running a 15x2 watt amp at 12 volts from TBS (though the issue would be the same regardless of the source) sound was off a bit distorted..wasn't the speakers..it was the step up to the amp-it dropped to and was stuck on 7 volts/defective. New step up and problem solved.
