hello

Post by will »

Hello.

My name is Will living in North Derbyshire.

Over the years I have built and used a range of Tamiya cars, I have also dabbled in model boats both sailing and electric.

A few years back I worked in a model shop, was fortunate to build a couple of Tamiya tanks for a customer (cannot remember which tanks) but do remember the quality the sound and action.
I did purchase a Heng Long Bulldog which had sounds bb firing and smoke, and having tested the H/L Tiger found them to have toy like sounds and a toy like actions.

I am looking to get back into R/C tanks on a budget, have been looking at a Mato Sherman, the question is have they improved, or how much do I need to spend to get something that is better than my old 27 meg Bulldog.

Many thanks.

Hi Will, welcome to the wonderful world of tanking. I also live in Derbyshire in Chapel-en-le-Frith so don't know how close you are. There is a Manchester club meet coming up on Saturday 19th December and it probably would be worth your while to attend, meet some of the great guys who will certainly give you lots of advice about tanks/costs etc and you can probably get a couple of test drives on different tanks (bring the bulldog along).

Happy tanking

GREETINGS  ...Mato Sherman? if you are looking for the Plastic one ...I'm pretty sure you are out of luck...I think they have been discontinued and have become a rather sought after commodity ....With that said..Mato does have a metal version out...with two tank destroyer models to come later that are based on that same chassis :D

I expect it can be found cheaper, but an all metal Mato Sherman is being retailed at £695.99!

Hi.

Many thanks for the welcome.

I am Chesterfield, so not a million miles away.
£695 a bit out of budget at the moment, are the Heng Long Shermans any good?

Hi.

3 sherman's do you use them often?
I know when I did boats I had 4 4 foot long and 1 over 5 foot, space can become a problem. Then their was finding time to sail, round trip of 90 minuets plus set up and packing away time. At least with a tank it can be used in the home or garden.
