What's wrong with the stock 380s? I use them in all my full metal tanks and they perform great. Are you doing a modern tank and need more scale speed?

hi max some of the tanks seem to struggle when fitted with metal tracks and gearboxes, they perform all right in a straight line but turning they struggle wondered whether fitting better motors than the stock heng long would help. one of the heaviest ive got which is nearly all metal is good but others which are mainly plastic with taigen metal bottoms so a lot lighter really find it hard turning.

Same thing on my heaviest tank..I found the Promax 480's are very strong and are 100% fine with RX-18 if you are using that.

Turning as in neutral steer (super spin) or turning while on the move?

Well it's kind of accurate. Even moderns construction vehicles and tanks need to make an effort to neutral steer. You're basically sliding the tank on its tracks instead of rolling. I have experience driving tracked farm equipment, and it's best to avoid neutral turning as much as possible to save wear on the tracks and transmissions. It also is hard on terrain when you do it. I've translated that driving style to my tanks, and it works very well.

But, having a big heavy bruiser of a tank with big motors sounds really fun! lol

I usually disable the super spin for that reason..it was very hard on the tracks and transmission and only the Tigers/Panthers could do that as far as I know. On my KT putting a 8 tooth pinion on for more low end.

Both really on the move and stationary, except for my heaviest. wondered if it was varying quality and strength in stock hl motors.

You should try the new Taigen 4:1 V2 gearboxes. All of my tanks have them, and I can't recommend them enough. They wont break the bank either.
