Strongest motors??

Post by tao »

I have some Promax 480's that I have in my Tiger I. Not sure they are still available? Any other really strong motors
out there that will fit the high low type Tiger/KT gearbox? Thanks! tao

tao, I find these to be the strongest non-brand motors. They feel like they are similar to promax 480 but might even run a little faster.

tao, you are in Canada ? Where about ?

Unfortunately I think they are the only ones. I usually just trying to buy more stuff at the same time so the shipping doesn't hurt as much.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for pointing that out..that the motors will fry the RX-18! I will use 480's as I know they have been fine.
Dan said just that..somebody got them and within minutes cooked it. 480's are plenty strong.

I had a set of those Promax motors a few years back. I was put onto them by a helicoptering friend who recommended them as being the highest torque ones that he had found. They are really powerful even at low revs, but do have a high current pull. Should be ok with anything other than an RX18 though.

The Promax 480's are fine with the RX-18..running them for a long time on RX no issues.

MichaelC, are these red motors from TankArmy compare favorably to the 400s and 480s? I read somewhere on this forum that these motors aren't really that powerful over the stock ones (ISTR seeing someone say these are rubbish...?), that the 400s and 480s have better power. I have these TankArmy red motors on my Leo2A6 and M1. Since I didn't drive these tanks with the stock motors all that much, I have no actual observations to make a personal comparison. It was because of the comment that these red motors are "rubbish" that I was thinking of getting 480s for my tanks.

I would really like to be clarified if these red motors are as powerful or almost as powerful as the 480s, as I do not want to needlessly spend money on something that will result to a small or even no performance gain from my current use of red motors.

Thank you.

I use JP480's but I use them on an IBU2. RX18 wont last.

JP480's are about £6 each
