IBU2 set up question

That was my problem as well with my last IBU2, I'm glad it came with a extra lead.

I've also had bad leads cause headaches and pulling of hair. I found a couple little gizmos at radio shack and hobby king that made sorting out what's what on transmitters a bit easier, and naturally I did a video. Somebody stop me!!

This one doesn't exactly pertain to the issue at hand (glad that got sorted out, BTW) but some of the newer guys like myself that are just delving into these radios may get some use out of it, and this seemed like a good place to post it.

I tried with the connectors,

I can now get the turret to move on the left part of the controller but only the turret traverse.

I also noticed the flashlight flashing after doing some switch on and offs to try the changes, which I assume means I need to charge the battery. I'm guessing the standard battery drains quick when turned on and off quickly to carry out these tests?

Potential Amateur hour question from me hear

For connecting the 4 leads from channel 1-4 to the IBU2 board does it matter what wire is put into the channel socket or are any cables ok as long as they are plugged in to the correct part on the IBU2?

If it did happen to be dodgy leads on the board what are the prices of replacement ones and where would I {potentially if that was the reason} get them?

No doesn't matter what wire you use, just make sure you don't cross any!

If your not getting gun/elevation/machine gun that would suggest channel 4 isn't been received. Try removing the channel 4 servo lead around at both ends so the white is where black is and vice versa. And the radio config sequence.

I can now get the gun to elevate up and down, the machine gun light goes and the tank will recoil from firing the gun. But when I try to start the tank by holding down the stick on the left to the left as in the manual only the machine gun light goes on. Are there settings on the micro sd card that could be restored to defaults as I looked at the micro sd card to see what sounds are there or are they best left alone?

Sometimes the start position gets turned around. Try going down and right. Can you make the headlights turn on and off? Usually start will be on the same side as lights, but the other direction up or down. For example, if lights are down and right start will be up and right. If lights are up and right start will be down and right. And remember you really have to hold the stick in place for what seems like forever, but is really only five seconds. On most of my IBUs start is up and to the right. Hope that helps.

Also if the IBU2 detects low voltage it wont start the engine. Make sure dipswitch 7 is off, you’ve selected the correct type of battery with the dipswitchs and your using a fully charged battery.

Its the 7.2v NimH battery that came as standard with the tank. I charged it for 4 hours with the included charger. I was wondering about chargers that indicated how charged the battery was if any of you guys have that?

In reply to Max-U52, thanks for the suggestion I will try that. Is the machine gun light meant to come on when starting the tank because that's what seems to occur?

No you can switch on off the headlights using the diagonal stick, where engine is down and side the light is same side and up.

Also just remembered make sure dip switch 6 is off.

Hi! I wrote the same in the neighbori theme...
I had a lot of trouble with IBU while its installation. I wrote to Ivano, who produced it and his advice was to go through joystick calibration process very carefully. He send me instructions, too.
And after that my board worked as it should.
There's these instructions:

Anyway let’s go step by step …
For the moment we start as a 4 channel board :

Remove all cables from rx to ibu
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as throttle to ibu2 channel 1 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as steering to ibu2 channel 2 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as barrel elevation to ibu2 channel 3 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)
Connect the rx cable corresponding to the stick (x or y axis) you want to use as traverse to ibu2 channel 4 (you can use a servo to identify the rx output)

Flip dip-switch 5 to off
Power on the tank
Flip dip switch 8 to on
Calibrate the radio (hold the sticks in every corner for 5 seconds)
Flip the dip switch 8 to off
Power off the tank
Power on the tank
Now the basic function should work


P.S.: the battery should be fully charged
