Re: Taigen Tigers
jeman, that looks really cool. I've been thinking about fenders, too. Have you thought about real steel? Any idea how thick a fender on a real tiger was? This is .006 steel shim stock just shot with primer. I'll be very interested to see how yours holds shape that way, or did you brace the rear of the upper hull wall above the fenders? That sounds confusing. I mean on the inside of the upper hull, right above where the fenders meet the vertical side. Do you think flex will be a problem there? If yours holds up well it gives me lots more options for using steel shim stock. I'm really glad you posted this.
This fender was a fix of necessity, as I had some damage there. Jeman, where are you? I mean what country? I can send this shim stock just like a letter if you'd like to play around with some and see what you think. I also think it would be great for vent covers like on that gorgeous Jagdtiger that reaper just posted. I must admit I'm seriously considering shamelessly and flagrantly copying all his hard work and doing covers like that on my JT.

Let me know if you think it's worth trying. I have a video (naturally) if you want more info on the shim stock itself.

Cool, thank you. That's .011 inches in scale, and I happen to have .011 shim stock.

Hi MAX U52
That's really interesting on the fenders made from metal shim and I wouldn't mind giving it a go ! I've realised I've moved the fenders up and down to much looking at my pictures, and I've now calmed them down some what and brought them more into line. Certainly cutting them does give a more realistic look for sure........your work on the metal fender is AWSOME. Looks soooo like it should
I'm doing very basic stuff at the moment.....trying to gain some experience and advice......and that's what you guys on this forum are giving me and it's sooooooo appreciated. I've got a third Tiger.....that I want to make as a real dirt runner...kinda go anywhere one. Sadly I've not had the time to get any further with it
but as I want it to have a few side fenders missing.....it would be a good trial for making up a metal side fender and seeing how I get on. I'm sure I can get hold of metal shim plates here.....but thank you very much for your kind offer.
I'll keep you posted and will be watching your posts
Cheers

Re: Taigen Tigers
Hi Kiaser buddy.......it sure does help with the look ! The side fenders come to life once cut like you said. I have toned them down now so they arnt up and down so much as the Tiger hasn't seen that much action
I'll post a couple of pics. The soldering Iron abuse is something I've yet to do....ha ha Your Tiger ROCKS buddy......can't wait to see the beast after the refurb ! I might have to lock the micro saw away.........kinda like NOW

Re: Taigen Tigers
People says Taigen's are upgrade of Heng Long's tanks. How I see Heng Long is nowhere comparable to Taigen's? Moreover, Taigen's tanks are at least 3 to 4 times more expensive then Heng Long's tanks.
H/L Pantiger, H/L Leopard 2A6, Mato Panzer III, Hybrid Tiger 1 and some tank wreckage
Re: Taigen Tigers
Hi Steelbird,
I totally agree.......they are very good RC Tanks....as long as you upgrade gearboxes...(I love the Black Steel ones). As they already come with opening Hatches although to have them opening at an angle you do have to modify them. All in all great Tanks with good level of detail and a good weight to them
