I was thinking of printing another smaller turret ring with the teeth inside and use the Sherman type elevation unit with a large gear on it. I'm going to be dropping the BB unit for recoil and IR and making it 360 so I won't need to worry about anything hanging below the turret.

Got one Question.....How much difference is the chassis dimensions on this Chally compared to the Centurion :shifty:
Aside from the skirts...they look awfully similar :shifty:

If close enough....could there be some possible Centurion conversions pop up in the future :shifty:

:D

Hi Woz

I tried using a smaller turret ring gear on a vintage tamiya conversion I was doing and found the motor could not turn the turret ring. It appeared that because I had moved the turning point away from the circumference of the turret sit in circle the motor was just pushing the turret to the side rather than rotating. If that makes sense.

H1 Alpha, Centurion chassis is designed in the late 40's if I recall it right, suspension is totally different and as well as the wheels, tracks, idler, sprocket, engine, to sum it up everything.

Challenger lineage started in the late 70's with the Challenger 1 ( after the need for Chieftains replacement ), However even Challenger I differ quite a lot from Challenger 2 (they almost look visually the same from afar) and Challenger 2 is a whole new tank. Dimension wise Challenger's are totally bigger than Centurions.

Could not compare the two MBT's, 2 tanks that looks very good, built on two separate time frame. Even the centurion lineage differs quite a lot with their marks or version, upgrade and engines, armaments, etc.

Thanks for the 411 DNAR  ...Weren't some modernized for use in Dessert Storm?....The configurations look awful close...and even if the two are decades apart...I can see it opens doors for the creation of a Centurion...Especially by some of the skilled modellers who have mastered the art of 3D printing ;)

Possible though ..right Mcevoyi? ;) ...I can see a great scratch builder like you taking the chassis (bogies sprockets and all)...and building a dead solid Centurion :D ...The other Fynsdad....that guy did cool things ...especially converting HLs ;)
