Good Luck with the Winging Arnie ;) ....just one question..how come you didn't just get the IR version ...seems the majority of your collection is

ALPHA

PS. First step in winging....get the unit attach the barrel then seat the whole thing into the turret then fit the mantlet ...it should give you a rough Idea of where you need to place your mounts....mounting and making the mounts then become the next challenge...have done remounts many times already..some are easy some are hard....I think yours shouldn't be too bad...just because Taigen does market an IR model...so if you are lucky...the recoil mech might fit right in ;)
HLs are like that...the recoil unit will swap right out with the BB mech

I did get the IR version, but it came with the Heng Long recoil. Slow back then boom and fast forward. I wanted it to look right ;)

OOPS Sorry Arnie..had to read your lead in again....So we are swapping the HL to the Taigen if you are using the HL RX...that might be a problem...Especially if you get the Asiatam servo recoil unit ....for one...The second is...cutting will definitely be required....having the unit in hand is important ;)

Good Luck with this one...like Painless ...will be following along

I had Dominique swap out the RX18 for Taigen 2.4 (cost me about 30€ to the cost of the tank) so it could run with my other tanks :)

But I had a partial success tonight.
Got it all installed after some cutting and refitting. Made a new baseplate of ABS for the Recoil and mounted that to the studs in the hull. So far so good.
(forgot to take a picture of the unit installed in its correct position, but you guys have seen this before)

Now. I put everything back together. Resoldered some of the wires, as the HL electronics had a en extra 8-pin connector, inside the turret, for the old elevation and recoil system. I refitted this, to duplicate my Taigen tanks (less confusing, when I have to redo stuff).
Had an extra LED MG from the extra hull, so I installed this in the turret, just because and took the tank for a test run.

Started up as normal, except for me some how swopping the hull mg and headlight around, so the mg was blinking instead of the headlight. No biggie. Easy fix. Drove a bit. All good. Turret turning, gun elevating. Perfect. Tried to fire... Barrel went halfway in and then returned to forward position!

Tried elevating the barrel, and it seems, that when the barrel is at its most elevated, the barrel moves freely and flash works, shooting sound, track recoil. Take it down, just a bit and it gets stuck.
So tomorrows project will be to see what the obstruction is, and remove it. As well as switching hull MG and Headlight back to their right place ;)

So as I said. A partial success tonight ;)

Also, I think I might have drowned my smoke unit at some early point... :/

Been some time, since I gave this fella some attention, so not much of an update really.

I have fixed the turret, so the barrel can elevate without jamming. It was just a bit of tinkering about and realigning the internal parts.

I have also been testing out how I want to paint it, on my extra hull and have come to two colours I like, but would like to hear you guys opinion on it.
So, left or right?? :)
