Hi,
I am looking to buy my first tank this weekend
I have just joined this forum as there seems to be a lot of helpful people on here.

I am looking to buy the Taigen upgraded tank Panzer IV off LTD on e-bay for £149.00.

Has anyone any good or bad comments to help me with my first Tank ?

The Taigen pz iv is a good tank and a great runner, enjoy your first tank but be warned that you can never have only one!

Hello and welcome! Sorry I missed your post earlier, Taigen tanks are almost all very good being basicly an upgraded H/L tank and we ALL loooove our upgrades don't we?! Congrats on your new tank and can't wait to see its pics!

I have a Taigen PzIV and it's a great little tank. I put metal sprockets, idlers and roadwheels on it (it came with metal tracks) and I have the hatch kit and metal tool set for it as well. It's easy to drive, easy to work on, and I haven't had any trouble with it. I also put four shaft black steel gearboxes in it and that made things even better. Oh yeah, I built the cool two drum fuel trailer for it, too. All that stuff is on my youtube channel, so let me know if you want to see any of it, and welcome aboard.

I have built Panzer 4s and get a lot of pleasure from the builds BUT if you are going to fit metal engine hatches you must bear in mind that you will almost certainly have to cut off the rear hull to body retaining struts,
And that means you will need to consider an alternative way to keep body and hull connected whilst still being easy to separate when you need access to the interior of the hull,
I use "Neodymium" magnets, very small and very strong, Available in all manner of shapes, strengths and sizes from -

I've heard that before so I'm probably going to use just one hatch. The whole point of it is to be able to refill the smoker without taking the tank apart. I'll post what I figure out once I get around to the hatches.

Gary I cannot praise "PHILIPAT's" Panzer 4 build highly enough, Well worth a look.

You're right, Shaun, Philip's a very talented builder and one of the guys I got along well with at RCU. His PzIV build has helped me make a lot of decisions about what I want to do with my PzIV. I'm not going to get anywhere near the level of detail and perfection Philip is achieving, but he's really provided a wealth of info already. I can't wait to see his built. With his power system and dual batteries I'll bet he can run that tank for 3 hours on a single charge. It really is something.

Another builder that's on both forums that I have tons of respect for is Tom. I've never seen anyone else as talented with photo etch as Tom is. Guys like those two really help a guy want to up his game, ya know?

Hi all,
I have this evening received my new Taigen Panzer IV with metal tracks etc from ltd-deals on e-bay.
I am very impressed with the tank its self but there are scratches on the paint job and no aerial.

Also the instructions do not show me how to open the tank up to check it has the metal gears etc I asked for.

Can anyone enlighten me as to how to open up this tank ?
