Hey Highlander, thanks for the kind words. You really have been paying attention. I just PMed the videos, hope they're useful. When I get it all finished and installed I'll do some kind of thread, provided I can figure out where to put it. Other Builds seems like the best candidate.
In my seriously mis-spent youth I knew a guy that actually cut someone's head off so naturally we called him the Highlander and we all ran around saying "there can be only one" in our best Conner MacLeod voice. Fortunately, that hasn't been my only exposure to the wonderful culture and traditions of Scotland. They did have some really cool scenery in that show, though.
Just let me know if I can be of help with your build. So far you're the only other guy I've come across that's doing the airsoft recoil turret. Oh yeah, did I mention that I found and fixed that little glitch in the airsoft recoil thread? It was a bad trigger switch, and it's been replaced. I'm hoping to have that done this weekend but the krylon snafu set me back a bit.

Hi, Max
I've had a breather from the forum for a day or two.. It gets a little too addictive, and impacts on the daily grind: the more boring stay- alive- tasks.. I'd have to admit that my youth was also a tad mis-spent too; though much of it is a blur of music, festivals
and hippies, and odd plants. 'The 'Summer of love' and all that. I got through Uni., but can't remember how (or where sometimes!) But, among my many long-haired weirdo acquaintances, there was no one with an out of control samurai sword, luckily! Incidentally, much of the "Highlander' film was shot up here and a mountain featured in it, 'Slioch' ('The Spear'), can be seen from here and, in fairer weather I'm hoping to film my Tiger 1 in that very landscape. That said, Tanks would look slightly out of place here, as the landscape doesn't resemble Kursk, The Desert, or even mainland Europe (except parts of Norway). In the war, Loch Ewe was where the convoys (including the ill-fated PQ-17) set off to deliver arms, including tanks and aircraft, to the Russians, in Murmansk. We even had an anti-submarine net across the loch, to keeps u-boats (even the U52) out. Anti-aircraft guns were dotted all around, and the mountings are still here.
At one time there were dozens of merchant ships, and destroyers based here, as well as battleships.
As for the Airsoft, I have ordered the seven lead cable that comes with the 360 deg airsoft +mg option. My current slip- ring only has five wires, but this has seven, and that's just enough to run the recoil servo through the slip-ring, and out of the way.
The FlySky tx is not going to be delivered until the end of Nov., coming, by the sound from Hong Kong via carrier pigeon and donkey. Thus, I can't install the Clark TK22 yet. When I do, I'll get back to you. Keep making the vids.

Highlander, I think your tanks will look great in that setting, historically accurate or no. That's some truly beautiful country and should make for great photos.
I just got my turret repainted and hopefully I'll get the future on today and maybe decals tomorrow night. I like to let the future cure for AT LEAST 24 hours before applying decals.
I'll do a video when it's installed and I just ran down to Best Buy and picked up a Canon Vixia camcorder so we'll see how she works out. On this one I can do box openings and see the screen at the same time so hopefully that will take care of the plumber's pants problem. I did a box opening for a three tank order and had to scrap the whole thing because of accidental exposures, if ya catch my drift. Right now my PC is acting a fool so I have to get that sorted out and then I'm hoping to take a crack at this windows media player stuff to see if I can learn to edit and remove the stuff I don't like and string clips together.
Are you still putting a TK22 in the tank with airsoft recoil? If that's the case, you need at least 8 wires in the slip ring. I also needed 8 for the Asp, and that's why I went with the IR slip ring.

Thanks, Max I'll post a shot soon. Looks like I need to draw my own wiring digram here, as the one from Clark predates the 360 rotation kit (and attendant slip- ring wires), as well as the release of the Taigen airsoft barrel recoil option. Thus, I need a plan that incorporates the two wires from the new recoil server, and the new wire running from the safety switch to the upper hull daughter board (the one cut away from the elevation motor) running through the slip ring. That's 5(existing ring) + 2 (new airsoft recoil server) + 1 from turret safety switch to 8-pin daughter board, and that makes 8 in all. I'd estimated 7, while your 8 wire IR slip ring option seems the only workable number. Clever you, and silly me. Imex-Erik's Youtube take on adapting airsoft for the Clark board, similarly overlooks the slip-ring issue, for those who want to combine 360 rotation with Airsoft and Barrel recoil. Hmm..well, übung macht den Meister, eh? It would be interesting to look at how the Taigen mid-production Tiger 1 metal ed., (with all these features) is set up.

I'll be finishing up the install tonight, Highlander, and I have lots of videos for this. Get yourself an IR slip ring kit and you can even tease out the connectors and use the stock daughter boards in the turret so you really have very little soldering to do. Tonight I'll see if I can't get a once over video to show you all I've done, or at least sort out past videos so you get the proper info.

Jawohl..und wird gemacht! Max. Thanks for that. I'll look forward to the omnibus edition of your Airsoft/Clark videos, and no doubt expect some crisp images from the new camera kit.Welsh Dragon sells the IR (+mg) kit, so I'll order it there from Steve. I wrote before, and it's worth repeating, that he's a real 100% er, and posts stuff out right away..... Ahh, and before I forget, I meant to ask whether you'd incorporated the three 2.2k resistors Clark recommends. Fitting them inline could be a tight squeeze, depending on location.

Resistors - sometimes yes, sometimes no. I like to but sometimes there are issues. The last ones I used at clark's recommendation were for the tail lights on the M41.
Got the airsoft turret in last night but it has issues. I think it's the trigger switch, but it's gonna mean opening up the turret so that will have to wait til at least the weekend.
